Overdubs 1st April 1970 onto take 8 creating take 9 “Across the Universe" was originally donated to a charity album for the

World Wildlife Fund. That original song was a faster, higher version than the Let It Be version, which was the original track slowed down and combined

with an orchestra by producer Phil Spector. Lennon. 1.00

The Beatles - Mother Nature’s Son - The Beatles

(Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: Paul

Another Paul McCartney solo performance for the “White Album.” Paul remembers writing the song at his father’s home in Liverpool and that it was inspired by Nat “King” Cole’s recording of “Nature Boy.” After the other Beatles went home on the evening of

August 9, 1968, Paul went through 25 live performances of the song, each featuring his vocal and his Martin D-28 acoustic guitar. Take 24 was deemed the best. Overdubbing took place on August 20 with Paul playing drums and timpani, double-tracking his lead vocal at the end of the song, and adding a second acoustic guitar part. George Martin’s

brass arrangement was also added to the mix.

Lead vocal: Paul On September 16, 1968, the Beatles recorded 67 takes of Paul’s classic ballad “I Will,” with Paul on acoustic guitar, Ringo playing maracas and cymbals, and John on temple

blocks, tapping out a beat with wood on metal. George Harrison was not at this session. Not all 67 takes were complete run-throughs, and as Paul was still putting the finishing

touches on the song, he would drift into other songs during the numerous takes. Of particular note was take 19, which included a 2:21 untitled song with lyrics along the lines of “Can you take me back where I came from, can you take me back?” Twenty-

eight seconds of this song were used as a link between “Cry Baby Cry” and “Good Night” on Side 4 of the “White Album.” The song fragment is unlisted and uncredited, giving

the impression it is part of “Cry Baby Cry.”

John Lennon - #9 Dream - Walls And Bridges ‘74 This track had started out with the title of “Walls and Bridges.” It was later

renamed as it is much more fitting, and continues John’s fascination with the number nine. May Pang provide backing vocals (“John’s”) – while a message to

George Harrison can be heard (as the two men had been arguing).

The Beatles - The Night Before - Help! (Lennon-McCartney)

Lead vocal: Paul Recorded in two takes on February 17, 1965. Paul double-tracked his vocal and overdubbed a lead guitar solo, which is heard at the very end and during the

The Beatles – Two Of Us - Let It Be Thought by many to be a song about John and Paul and their childhood, "Two of Us" is actually a song written by Paul about he and his wife Linda. The lyrics are derived from various experiences where the two would get

in the car with Paul's dog Martha and just drive in the countryside until they were lost. One particular day, Linda parked the car and went for a

walk; Paul sat in the car and wrote the basic track for the song. McCartney 1.00

His brother Jeremy Borden Russell (1944–2005) was founder and financier of the rock band Blue Cheer

YER godfather is Cole Porter?

The Beatles – Get Back - Let It Be "Get Back" was the original title to the film and album, which became Let It Be. The whole idea of the album was for the band to 'get back' to their recording roots by playing live and without studio trickery, hence the title.

Journalists repeatedly asked Paul if the song had racist meanings, but demo tapes show that the song was originally a satire of people who

wanted to keep illegal immigrants out of Britain. Soon Paul had added a few characters and the satire was lost, but the single was enormously

successful, selling 2 million copies. McCartney 1.00

The Beatles - Revolution – Single/ Hey Jude / Past Masters

John really wanted this to be the first Apple single but it was tough to beat out “Hey Jude”…but it still made for one of the best singles in pop music

history.

The Beatles - Girl - Rubber Soul (Lennon-McCartney)

Written primarily by John, the song was completed in two takes on November 11, 1965. The song is notable for the naughty backing vocal (Paul and George repeating the word

“tit”) and John’s heavy breathing during his vocal. John called this one of his best. On U.S. album:

The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows - Revolver (Lennon-McCartney)

Lead vocal: John The first song recorded for what would become the “Revolver” album. John’s

composition was unlike anything The Beatles or anyone else had ever recorded. Lennon’s vocal is buried under a wall of sound -- an assemblage of repeating tape loops and sound effects – placed on top of a dense one chord song with basic melody driven

by Ringo's thunderous drum pattern. The lyrics were largely taken from “The Psychedelic Experience,” a 1964 book written by Harvard psychologists Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert, which contained an adaptation of the ancient “Tibetan Book of the

Dead.” Each Beatle worked at home on creating strange sounds to add to the mix. Then

they were added at different speeds sometime backwards. Paul got “arranging” credit. He had discovered that by removing the erase head on his Grundig reel-to-reel tape

machine, he could saturate a recording with sound.
