Project: Caruachi Hydro Electric Project Location: Caruachi, Venezuela Aluma supplied forming and shoring solutions for all aspects of this project from dam walls, to culvert intakes and discharge, to numerous galleries and tunnels of varying sizes and shapes. To fast track the mass concreting Aluma supplied heavy duty adjustable steel –faced cantilevered forms which allowed the forming of various stages, shapes, and angles using one versatile modular form. For concreting the roof of the massive intakes, Aluma supplied custom steel wall-hung forms that were pre-assembled and used repeatedly maximizing productivity and efficiency.

SPECIAL PROJECTS – Bridges CASE STUDY – LA PLATA - CABLE STAY BRIDGE

Project: La Plata Cable Stay Bridge Location: Puerto Rico Aluma Systems supplied formwork solutions for all aspects of this project. Aluma Systems provided two sets of Aluma Gang forms mounted on crane hoisted adjustable rollback brackets for the diamond shaped bridge pylons. For the pylon cross beam and pier table Aluma designed a shoring solution consisting of Aluma Frames and Aluma Beams to form the deck. Finally, for the forming of the bridge span itself Aluma designed, built, and supplied two custom made self-launching gantries that were able to cast 6.5 m long segments of bridge deck at each stage over the La Plata River. Each gantry came equipped with two suspended satellite carriages that were used to apply tension to the cable stays for each pour segment.

As with all of Aluma’s custom designed and manufactured solutions, stringent quality control measures were implemented at our production facilities to ensure that the product was delivered to site “job-ready” reducing the amount of job site modifications and on-site assembly time. On site, Aluma personnel were present to assist the contractor with assembly and erection, as well as to providing training for labour and site management in proper operation of the systems. Aluma Systems has been involved in the in the development, manufacture, and supply of Tunnel forms for both bored and cut & cover tunnel construction for more than two decades. In this time we have developed the capability and experience to design solutions, depending on the needs of our clients, utilizing both our standard fleet of Aluma equipment as well as custom designed telescopic and non-telescopic forms to fit tunnels of all sizes, geometries, and construction methods. Some of the Aluma technologies that are well suited to tunnel construction include: - Articulated walers and custom designed steel panels. - Hydraulically propelled travelers to support and move forms within the tunnel. - One-sided wallform panels for tunnel and station walls in two stage cut and cover construction - Light weight, high capacity shoring that can be panelized and moved along the tunnel passages quickly with dollies. In addition to the tunnels themselves, Aluma can supply integrated solutions to form supporting structures such as air-shafts, access tunnels, and subway stations
