How long will my appointment take? You will be seen in order of your appointment time. Appointment duration and patient numbers vary, so we recommend you allow for delays.

Although GV Health staff will make every attempt to provide you with an appointment in the quickest time possible, priority must be given to emergency and more urgent patients.

Failure to attend two scheduled appointments, including appointments for blood tests, x-rays and pre-admission clinics, [without prior notice and good cause], may result in you being removed from the outpatient appointment waiting list, and a new referral would be required.

The staff of the Specialist Consulting Suite will:

• ensure that you are allocated to an appropriately qualified medical practitioner.

• endeavour to notify you of your appointment time and date up to four weeks prior to the allotted time, unless you have provided notification that you are available at short notice.

• make every attempt to advise you in advance of the cancellation of any clinic.

• unless you advise otherwise, information relevant to your continuing care and management will be shared with your doctor while you are waiting for an appointment, or being treated.

What if I need an interpreter? If you are from a non-English speaking background the hospital is able to provide an interpreter for you. Please phone 5832 3600 to arrange an interpreter [48 hours notice is required for some languages].

Important: If you are unable to attend your appointment, please call on (03) 5832 3600.

Have you heard about Advanced Care Planning?Advanced Care Planning gives you a say in future health decisions while you can still participate.

• What would happen if you couldn’t make decisions?

• What would be important to you?

• Who would you want to make decisions for you?

Share your wishes and write them down.
