Hydrasun’s Condition Monitoring service enables customers to improve hydraulic system efficiency, improve application reliability, reduce downtime and ultimately reduce costs. In general it has been estimated that in the region of 85%-95% of hydraulic system failures can be traced to fluid borne contaminants. Hydraulics account for a significant proportion of equipment used in oil and gas industry applications and the unpredictable nature of hydraulic system failures can have significant cost implications. These include costs associated with lost production, replacement of damaged system components, frequent fluid replacement and cost of fluid disposal, and increased unplanned maintenance costs. It is not possible to completely eliminate contamination however, it can be monitored. The benefits of co-ordinated and plant-wide Condition Monitoring systems have been well documented.

The information gathered from Condition Monitoring devices enable companies to employ risk based strategies to aid preventative maintenance and avoid unplanned down time.

Benefits of adopting a Condition Monitoring strategy include:n Improved system efficiencyn Improved application reliabilityn Predictive / proactive maintenancen Reduced downtimen Reduced costs

Hydrasun offer Condition Monitoring services including the analysis of hydraulic systems and applications to allow for specification and recommendation of suitable monitoring devices, an onsite sampling capability and technical support both on and offsite.

We can also provide customers with data interpretation and analysis online through our Hydralink system. Hydrasun also offers equipment recalibration management as part of the overall Condition Monitoring service.

Until recently, it has been relatively difficult to monitor the day to day condition of hydraulic oil. As a result, tests have either been sporadic, often involving a simple visual check of oil colour and viscosity, or required remote laboratory analysis, which provides an accurate indication of quality but can take hours or sometimes days to complete.

Parker, one of Hydrasun’s leading product providers, has developed a solution which introduces compact, low cost and extremely accurate detection instruments into key parts of each hydraulic system. These instruments use proven laser light obscuration technology to identify the presence of both particle contaminants, down to just a few microns in size, and moisture.

However, detecting the presence of contaminants is only part of the story. It is more important to prevent contaminants entering the systems in the first instance through the correct specification of hoses and fittings, regular maintenance and through the installation of appropriate filtration units to ensure that if particulates are present they are removed reliably at source.

Our Condition Monitoring services are complemented by the considerable industry experience and expertise we have developed in the integrity management of flexible hose assemblies and small bore tubing, so not only can we advise on condition monitoring strategies but also on specification for hose assemblies and their subsequent maintenance routines.

The Hydrasun Condition Monitoring team has extensive industry experience, product and application knowledge enabling them to advise on the most appropriate solution for specific system requirements.

Hydrasun has an outstanding track record of providing innovative solutions. We have in-depth knowledge and experience of subsea and marine industry needs which enables us to provide back up and support to customers locally.

Should the need arise however, our excellent working relationships with supply chain providers means we can call in product experts from leading manufacturers to provide additional support.

Added to this we have the ability to provide products direct from stock as well as access to an industry accepted data analysis and integrity management system - all of which assures customers of excellent service and value for money.
