The self priming system is intented to maintain the pump in positive suction head, im-proving the available NPSH of the pump. It comprises a deposit, assembled in the pump suction and which allows its self-priming.

VERTICAL PUMPS

V SERIES PUMPS CATALOGUE

Pumps our series Intercal - V are vertical centrifugal, single stage with axial suction and radial hydraulic drive and motor submerged surface. The complete pump is mounted with base plate and discharge pipe.

Its vertical design allows the hydraulic dip tanks, wells, tanks and impellers, open PS PX and em-powers them to make the pumping of viscous liquids and solids laden. The pump body is provided with registration cap for inspection and cleaning.

We manufacture in different casting materials, GG25 gray, nodular GGG-40, carbon steel, brass, stainless steel or Hastelloy and AISI 304, AISI 304L, AISI 316, AISI 316L and AISI 904L.

INSTALLATION AND ERECTION

1.- PUMP WORKING IN CLOSED CIRCUIT (drawing 1):

In this case the liquid level in maintained constant.

• For pump installation, the set foundation, especia-lly, should be such that the liquid level varies be-tween elevations B (150) and A (240) A so that:

a) Bearings are not flooded.b) The pumo stuffing-box is kept submerged in order to pre-vent air from entering.

In general, an overflow flush with elevation B assures that the bearnings will not become flooded.

• The suction mouth can be fitted with a coupling and strai-ner, in order to prevent foreign particles from enterning into the pump casing. (This precaution is not necessary, it is only a safety, except when the suction has to be made from the lower levels of the liquid).

The set automatic operation is assured by means of a float switch.The setting is as follows:

In the arranque:

a) Cota B (150) maximum liquid level for the pump to be in positive static head.Never go deeper than elevation A (240)b) Elevation C minimum level corresponding to tank or pit depth.

As elevation 300 mm. of the vertical pillow case is standard, a coupling of a lenght equal to tank or pit height and a strainer must be installed, the latter being at 0,30 m. from the bottom.

- The above indicated elevations must be respected so that the pump is full of liquid prior to veri-fication of direction of rotation.- Verify the direction of rotation, which is indicated by an arrow on the motor support coupling.- Start the pump with the outlet valve closed if there is one in the installation. - Verify with an ammeter that the current admitted by the motor as shown in the nameplate is not exceeded.- The motor would be rapidly damaged by an overload.

MAINTENANCE

1.- Pump pillow blocks (lubrication):Engrase: All our pumps are suplied with bearnings protected by an initial grease charge for 2.000 hours operation.The periodic grease renewal will be made by means of a grease fitting provided in the pillow bloc-ks (1/4 of turns for 200 hours running).It should be noted that for this renewal only a small amount of grease is required, an excessive filling of the cavity should be avoided.It is remained that an excess of grease is detrimental to ball bearings and originates abnormal heating. 2. - Stuffing-box: No periodic changes have to be made if it is always inmmersed (during tha start). Change it at the of the material revision.3. - Motor: Follow the manufacturer´s instructions.

The viscobombas because of its particular design of impeller blades and pump body allow eleva-

tion of certain liquid centrifugal pumps can not vehicular. Indeed, the PX series INTERCAL allows,

among others, the following applications :

1. - Liquids containing suspended solid or pasty materials. Pulps, weeds, bark re-

sidues containing tannins, purines, shelled marc, well cleaning, water laden with sand, cement,

crushed minerals, etc. . Multiple applications Bins, Breweries, ... Similarly Tanning Industries in

factories porcelain, carved marble, coal washing, etc. . This type of pump is also used for pumping

waste water sewage and sludge for dredging and sand rivers , or for cleaning pools, ponds, etc. .

2 . - Viscous liquids such as paints, tars, oils, slurries, etc. . The viscobombas

transported without difficulty all these liquids, when its viscosity misses too important figures ,

provided they work in or with VERY LITTLE LOAD VACUUM.

Applications

These curves have been obtained in laboratory tests with water d = 1 g/cm3. These curves must

be modified according to the characteristics of the liquid conveyed, as its viscosity, density, ope-

rating temperature, concentration of solids, etc.. For this reason not included in the same power

Our Series PX and PS have:

- A comprehensive and robust bearing bracket featuring two very separate bearing supports for a

perfect guiding shaft and complete absorption of bending stresses - A “ third supporting point “ of

the shaft, consisting of a sintered bush placed next to the runner .

- A shaft of high strength stainless steel , mounted on our standard execution. This standard

mounting ensures a longer duration of the packing and is indispensable in the installation of me-

chanical seals .

- An open impeller , built in cast steel, which allows for the constructive way in blades cross or

download a special pumping viscous liquids or pasty or solid particles in suspension .

- A large rectangular record and a drain plug in the pump body , allowing interior cleaning water

jet , facilitating the drain plug out of the entrained material .

- We have the ability to replace the regular stuffing for mechanical seal and ensuring complete

sealing on the shaft.

Constructive Arrangements PS, PX-V and PS-V

Retain respect for PX series dimensions and constructive ways, although the peculiar design of

the impeller changes its hydraulic characteristics, making them especially suitable for pumping

liquids with suspended solids and some abrasiveness.

The rotor disc has a single supporting blades located on both sides. The front face of the driving

liquid, while the rear create vacuum, preventing the liquid from entering the stuffing area thus

removed abrasivity axis.

They viscobombas vertical disposition, whose use as liquid and hydraulic characteristics are

equal respectively to the PX and PS Series. Les we refer to our catalog for vertical pumps.

The vertical pump bracket is very sturdy and has a cuff that serves to pump setting in place and

to support the electric motor is V-1 flange.

This series of pump is particularly suitable for installation in relatively contante closed and fluid

level circuit in which the pump can be submerged.

Description

The B series of bombs INTERCAL is specially designed to work continuously in the toughest

conditions. Its main application is for the water pumping and other clean or slightly polluted with

suspended solids up to 1.2% concentration liquids, admitting a small abrasion under the cons-

tructive elements of the pump.

The main fields of application lie in the general industry, water supply, heating and air conditioning

circuits, cooling towers, power plants, compressed air, industrial painting facilities, etc..

Celled closed impeller pump with axial suction and radial discharge. The diffuser is formed volute

pump body.

Each model is unique parts themselves the pump body, impeller and suction cover-flange. The

pumps belonging to the same support they have in common the shaft, bearings, flange mounting,

complete gasket, fastening screw impeller and other Constructive elements of support.

The pump assembly is formed by the pump itself and the electric motor mounted on a base, the

shafts being connected by a flexible coupling. Perfect alignment between the axes of the pump

Construcción Las bombas de cámara partida de la serie PDH son monoetapa de doble aspiración y cuerpo de bomba de doble voluta partido horizon-talmente. Estas características aseguran un gran rendimiento y bajos valores de NPSHR.

El cuerpo de bomba partido horizontalmen-te e incorporando en su mitad inferior las bridas de aspiración e impulsión, permite una inspección rápida y un fácil manteni-miento de las partes inferiores sin desconec-tar las tuberías de aspiración e impulsión.

El impulsor de doble aspiración, per-mite un NPSHR mínimo y el equilibra-do axial de los empujes hidráulicos.

Los posibles empujes axia-les son soportados por rodamien-tos debidamente sobredimensionados.

Los rodamientos de empuje y radiales son nor-malmente de bolas o rodillos, lubricados por acei-te o grasa y soportados por robustos bastidores.

DesignThe Axially solit pumps of PDH series are single stage, double suction and dou-ble volute with pump casing horizontally split. These characteristics guarantees a high efficiency and low values of NPSHR.

The pumps casing is axially split along the shaft centerline with suction and dischar-ge nozzles integrally casted with the lower half casing permiting a very quick inspection and easy maintenance of inside parts without dismanting the suction and delivery pipes.

The impeller of double suction type allows minium NPSHR requeriments and axial balance of hidraulic thrusts.

The residual axial thrusts are supported by means of a properly overdimensioned bearing.

The radial and axial bearings are roller or ball type, lubricated by means of oil or grea-se and supported by strong bearing housings.

TYPES OF PUMPS AND APPLICATIONS

ALL FIRE groups can use any type of centrifugal pump manufacturer in the production program pumps.

Have been developed 4 families of fire equip-ment, based on the characteristics of the main pumps. Your choice depends on the conditions of flow and pressure demanded by installation and project specifications or engineering consul-tant responsible. Thus we have the following alternatives:

Main pumps: - Horizontal standard in ejecucción monobloc. - Normalized horizontal above the bed. - Horizontal camera axial heading. - Vertical engined surface or submerged.

Auxiliary pumps: horizontal, vertical or multis-tage submersible.

All pumps can be manufactured to customer requirements in API-610 8th edition configura-tion.

The conception of the FIRE groups is summari-zed in the document they have in their hands and covering the following conditions in flow and static head:

The FIRE equipment is designed , calcu-lated and prepared to give network com-bines fire flow and pressure necessary for proper operation and commissioning. All in accordance with the data calcula-ted by the designer engineering, security consulting , or , failing that , by Ercole Marelli bonbas .

The FIRE group consists basically of :

1. Main pump , generally driven by an electric motor.Two . Or emergency pump of the same capacity as the principal, and driven by electric motor or diesel depending on the characteristics of the system.Three . Electric auxiliary pump or jockey.

The main pumps supply flow rate and total head required by the system , and in addition to its characteristic curve covering a point called overload , which corresponds to 1.4 times the nominal flow rate with a maximum pressure drop of 70% with respect to the nominal for the UNE and the Technical Rule CE-PREVEN RT2 -ABA 2002 ; Or 1.5 times the rated flow with a pressure drop of no more than 65% to NFPA -20 ed.1999 . Also, the height at zero flow shall not ex-ceed the nominal value 1.3 and CEPRE-VEN UNE , and 1.4 in NFPA . Also keep in mind that the UNE- 23.590 - 1998.no allows this pressure to zero flow greater than 12 bar ( point 10.7.1 ) , so if a hi-gher total pressure required , this should circuntancia corrected using several pumps in series.

Furthermore, as indicated by the rules ,“ Wet installations MUST be permanently pressuri-zed “ . This function is performed by the au-xiliary or jockey pump. The jockey pump is commanded pornun regulated switch at its maximum value at a higher pressure rating of the facility , and indicate where to stop the pump. The minimum or starting such pres-sure will not allow the implementation of the main pumps for low pressure , thus avoiding that the system is in start / stop failed when small leakage in the system.

Also, a hydropneumatic accumulator permi-teb space the number of starts of the pump jockey , giving the installation a water reser-voir pressure and optimize its operation are available .

It has an electric control of the number of starts of the jockey pump , to quantify and evaluate the small losses of water in the system , if any, and correct them.
