SPECIALIZED TRAINING IN OIL TANKERS (MTC Accredited Course) COURSE DESCRIPTION This course provides training for masters, chief engineers, officers and any person with immediate responsibility for the loading, discharging and care in transit or handling of cargo. It comprises a specialized training program appropriate to their duties, including Seafaring personnel responsible for the handling of packaged dangerous, hazardous & harmful cargoes (hereafter referred to as “dangerous goods”) aboard ships and Shore based personnel (including competent authority and similar personnel) responsible for the transport of dangerous goods by sea. OBJECTIVE After successfully completing this course you will be able to take immediate responsibility for loading, discharging, and care in transit or handling of cargo on oil tankers. ENTRY STANDARDS This course is open to seafarers who have completed a shore-based fire-fighting training course' approved by the Administration, and who have relevant experience appropriate to their duties on oil tankers, as stipulated in STCW regulation V/1, paragraph 2.1, ad sub-paragraphs 1.1 or 1.2. CERTIFICATION The specialized oil tanker training program must be approved by the Administration. Masters and officers who are qualified in accordance with regulation V/1 paragraphs 1 or 2, as appropriate (that is, they have experience appropriate to their duties on tankers, and complete this training program), shall be issued with an appropriate certificate. INCLUDED TOPICS Basic Properties Of Petroleum And Its Hazards, Safety, Pollution Prevention, Oil Tanker Design And Equipment, Oil Tanker Operations, Cargo And Ballast Pumps, Emergency Procedure, Inert Gas Systems, Crude oil washing. Duration: 10 Days Training Venue: Victoria Building Schedule: Starts every Monday 7am-2pm and 2pm-8pm
