WELCOME

Thank you for specifying Sauber Torsion Bars.

By choosing us as your stability partner, you derive the following benefits:

* Improved Stability *

Stability is safety, and safety is our first concern. A Sauber Torsion Bar can eliminate unwanted counterweight, offering your users an extra safety margin.

Because Sauber bars don't rigidize the chassis frame, they always provide a smooth, quiet ride.

* Long Life *

Premium bronze and galvanized components. Bushings guaranteed and replaced as/if needed for 10 years. 10 Year parts coverage when inspected at no greater than four month intervals.

* Excellent Documentation *

Our comprehensive applications charts, installation instructions and detailed drawings provide the vital information you and your installers need in an organized format.

* Superior Support *

Toll-free phone and fax service from anywhere in North America provides easy access to the resources of our organization through your personal company representative.

* Lower Life Cycle Costs *

Since it takes less time to mount our bar, its installed cost can actually be less than other alternatives. Sauber Torsion Bars are designed and built to last as long as your chassis.

* Extensive Inventory *

Our inventory power puts our bar on the floor just when you want it. Your production schedule can't wait on your suppliers, and with us as your partner, it won't.

* More Choices *

Underframe or overframe, nobody provides more installation options than we do. More choices mean a better fit for your particular application and less "customizing" on the shop floor.

* Simplified Pricing *

Sauber Torsion Bars have just four pricing levels: A, B, C & D

Torque Assumptions & Important Information

1. Torque values are provided for lubricated bolts. For dry, unlubricated bolts increase torque values by 10%. 2. Values shown for Grade 8 bolts are based on alloy steel heat-treated bolts with a minimum tensile strength of 120,000 PSI.

Nut values shown are for all metal prevailing torque "crown type" lock nuts. 3. If fasteners are encountered or used that are outside the assumptions stated above, the installer is responsible for determining

the proper torque level based on the fastener manufacturer's recommendations. This information is intended only as a guide. Manufacturer's torque ratings should be followed at all times.

Inspection 1. Check fastener torque at semi-annual periods 2. Check bushing condition quarterly. 3. Check weldments and casting conditions quarterly 4. Check items 1-3 before and after each stability test

1. Remove spring set U-bolt nuts and install Sauber attachment bracket over existing axle bracket. Longer U-bolts may be re-

quired and are generally available through a local spring shop. Torsion bar weldment should be directed towards chassis rear. To this point lock nuts should be loose around the urethane bushings at each end of the arm and at the cross-tube.

2. Torque spring set U-bolts. 3. Position square cross-tube at underside of frame with toggle links close to vertical. Maximum toggle link deflection is 12 de-

grees either side of vertical. 4. Install frame clamps using fasteners provided. Clamp is notched to allow installation if crossmember frame reinforcement is

present. Torque frame clamp nuts. 5. Torque lock nuts at spring anchor brackets, toggle links and cross-tube.

1. Remove spring set U-bolt nuts and install Sauber anchor bracket over existing axle bracket. Longer U-bolts may

be required and are generally available through a local spring shop. Torsion bar should be directed towards

chassis front. Note that the four long spacers mount with the Street-side anchor bracket and the four short spac-

ers mount with the curbside anchor bracket. To this point, lock nuts should be loose around the toggle link ure-

thane bushings.

2. Remove and discard the front spring set hanger bolt, saving the nuts for re-use later. With the frame bracket ad-

justment bolts loose, install the frame brackets using the provided bolts and existing nuts and washers. Complete

this operation one side at time, taking care to ensure the spring set's stability relative to the chassis frame. (A

temporary spacer may be used between the bottom of the frame and the top of the spring set for this purpose).

3. Make sure the arm/bar weldment is centered on the chassis and that both toggle links are vertical when viewed

from the front of the chassis.

4. Torque spring set U-bolts and front spring set hanger bolts.

5. Torque frame bracket adjustment bolts.

6. Torque lock nuts at toggle links

Model 8755-F8B is provided with (4) loose spacers for each anchor bracket. Install (1) spacer at each U-bolt

location on units with no shock absorbers. For units with shock absorbers install (2) spacers at each of the

two forward U-bolt locations.

Model 8755-L3 requires (2) 1-3/4"L spacers and (1) 1/2"L spacer. One U-bolt location will not have a spacer.

Install spacers as shown in the installation drawing.

Model 8755-S1 requires curbside and Street-side specific anchor brackets. Attachment ears need to be off-

set toward outside of chassis.

Longer U-bolts may be required on some chassis and are generally available through a local spring shop.

Torsion bar weldment should be directed towards chassis rear. To this point lock nuts should be loose

1. Remove spring set U-bolt nuts and install Sauber attachment bracket over existing axle bracket. Longer U-bolts may be

required on some chassis and are generally available through a local spring shop. Torsion bar weldment should be di-

rected towards chassis rear. If the attachment bracket is equipped with two holes, one located at the bracket center and

one at the bracket end, it can be reversed to mount bar 5 1/2" forward if obstructions are encountered. If the bar weld-

ment must be mounted in the center hole, allow a minimum of .750" of clearance between the top of the arm and the cast-

ing bottom with the chassis unloaded. If this clearance is not available, contact Sauber Mfg. Co. for longer links for your

application. To this point lock nuts should be loose around the urethane bushings at each end of the arm and at the cross-

tube.
