Coral Gables
Chapel of Enlightenment
Located by the church of Little Flower
in Coral Gables, Florida, the program calls for
a minimal building footprint.
The concept of transformation
permeates the design. A hardscape
labyrinth begins the journey for a visitor.
Arriving at the main entrance, a vestibule
welcomes guests. Circulation is restricted
to a narrow passage around a wall which then
opens onto the choir. This main gathering
space is illuminated from a wall of windows
that embraces the guests with warm light.

perspective
The unit plans for the rooms
are inspired from the design
approach adapted by Zaha
Hadid. The soft curves that
swell and collide with one
another create an intimite
space.
The simplistic design of the
entrance hall depicts the
modern design aesthetic found
throughout the buliding. The
suspended bridge has 360
degrees of views while the spiral
staircase acts as a scultural
center piece that focuses the
eye.

Elevation and and
site plan sheet
The concept of curves is continued in the addition to
the previous chapel site plan. A modernistic approach in
concrete creates dynamic punch outs in elevation.
The apartments look out onto the soft curves of the
lanscaping which funnels visitors toward the chapel.
The axial plan allows for a public space between the two
added bulidings of apartments. Every room
has an exterior view of the chapel multiple angles, which
continues the motif of embrace and moving site lines.
Solares Hill Loggia and GardenFall 2012
Elevation study
Located on a corner lot in Keywest, Florida, the program calls for a public loggia and
garden space. The design uses pure geometries and a classical footprint to tackle the
challenging site with tight angles and corners. By placing the structure toward the main
corner the intersection is reactivated as a public realm and the garden rests as a semi-public
space behind. The pentagonal shape harkens back to the Villa Farnese and the fortified
structures of the past. The strong masonry walls create a sanctuary retreat for the public
to use and gather. The classical details and embellishments in elevation add a playful
language to the strength found within the plan. A low wall wraps the site and helps to
frame the approaches toward the new object building placed within a garden in a
residential area of the town.

Perspective View
Located across the street from the loggia in Solares Hill, Keywest, the preschool design
takes its aesthetic from the local wood architecture. Using precedents such as the

is given a context. The street facade implements an oversized covered arcade to act as a
public gathering moment for the town. The upstairs contains an auditorium while the lower
story is allocated in such a way to grow with the students as they gain knowledge and
independence. The theme of the keystone being the strength of the arch is reflected in

Winslow House in Illonois tries to understand the meaning
behind the building. The overal concept calls for an
experiential architecture. Through an overlay process
and study of the elevations, sections, and floorplans,
the layers and stages of the design were unfolded.
The elevation contains a rhythm and symmetry that
is juxtaposed with the pulling of interior planes that will
create the walls. The clients called for a floorplan that
can accomodate enterntaining multiple guests with the
idea that each and every person would have an exterior
view and experience of the landscape around them.
