Installation:

NOTE: Read installation instructions thoroughly before starting installation process.

Step 1: Lay out area and prepare site for install. Concrete must be installed over a solid, level base. See product specification sheet for minimum use zone requirements to ensure proper spacing and adequate surfacing area.

Step 2: Pour concrete piers for the Spider Web Climber. Refer to the Typical 36” Footing Section on the Typical Footing

page. This concrete should be flush with the sub-grade surface. Allow time for the concrete to completely cure before continuing.

Step 3: Using an appropriate Lull-type forklift or boom, place log posts, leaning away from the center of installation circle,

into final installation location. Unfurl net climber and be sure that the net fits taut between the posts before final mounting. See the Hardware Recommendation page for information on anchoring equipment down to your footers. Refer to the

surfacing manufacturer for installation of an approved impact attenuating play surface around the Spider Web Climber a minimum of 6 feet in every direction.

NOTES PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION:

- Use appropriate equipment to lift and move the play equipment.- Weather extremes and soil types vary. Please check local codes and

requirements before installing any equipment.- Use extra shipping material and caution to ensure the surface of the

product does not come in contact with the installation equipment.

Patch and repairs:NOTE: Always use proper eye protection and protective clothing appropriate to the task at hand.SPEC MIX-CONCRETE MIX WARNING AND DIRECTIONSWARNING: Keep out of reach of children. This product contains Portland cement. Avoid contact with skin. If case of eye contact, flush

repeatedly with water and consult the nearest physician.

RECOMMENDED TOOLS: You will need a clean empty bucket, a measuring container, margin trowel, steel trowel, a mixing stick, and

a 1⁄2” heavy-duty drill with a mixing paddle if mixing more than 5 pounds of material at one time.

MIXING: The recommended mixing ratio is approximately two parts of powder to one part by volume of water. Place the water in a

clean bucket, and add the powder. Mix by hand, or with a mixing paddle and a drill to achieve the desired trowelable, lump-free

consistency. Mechanical mixing with an electric drill will produce a creamier and smoother consistency without the need for additional

water.

INSTALLATION: Feather finish the concrete mix to the adjacent surfaces with a steel trowel. Apply sufficient pressure to fill all defects.

Use a small bristle brush to texture and blend.

THICKNESS OF INSTALLATION: Feather Finish Concrete Mix is used for a true featheredge from 0 thickness up to 1⁄2”. The

installation of Feather Finish can be done at any thickness in small, well-defined areas such as filling holes, joints, seams, cracks and

thresholds, as well as for height transitions.

CURING TIME: The time until Concrete Mix hardens will vary. For example, a skim-coat may be hard in 15 minutes. Thicker sections

will require additional time.

FINISH: After Concrete has cured, use appropriate color paint to blend color to surrounding paint colors.

POT LIFE: Approximately 15-20 minutes at 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

STORAGE: Store in a cool, dry area. Do not expose cans to sun. Tightly reseal can of unused product to retain freshness.

SHELF LIFE: Six months in original unopened container. However, if the powder remains loose and dry it is usable.

Efflorescence on Concrete:

Efflorescence is caused when soluble salts and other water dispersible materials come to the surface of concrete and mortars. It's

induced by low temperatures, moist conditions, condensation, rain, dew, and water added to the surface of fresh concrete to assist

embossing. It can occur very soon after exposure to moist or cool conditions or gradually, especially when it comes from within the

concrete. Any material containing portland cement results in efflorescence. The most usual reaction occurs when calcium hydroxide

(lime) formed in the hydration reaction of portland cement (approximately 140 pounds per cubic yard of concrete) is transported by

water to the surface through capillaries in the concrete. There it combines with carbon dioxide from the air to produce calcium

carbonate (an insoluble material) and water.

The easiest time to remove calcium hydroxide efflorescence is before it combines with carbon dioxide. Up to this time it will dissolve in

water, so pressure washing or wet scrubbing will put it in solution with water so it can be rinsed away.

NOTE: All concrete has naturally occurring hairline cracks and these are not product defects or structural in any way. Some of the small

micro cracking may be more visible due to the efflorescence exposing it.

Materials Included:

- #1 Dark Brown (Down to Earth) - #2 Black (Seal Skin)- #3 Light Tan (Town Hall Tan)

Materials Needed:

- Three (3) 2” - 3” Standard Paint Brushes - Two Buckets- Piece of cardboard at least 12” x 12” - Sponge-Wire Brush

For Heavy Bark Areas:

Step 1: Base Color ApplicationLightly wire brush patch area and 2-3” beyond. Thoroughly clean off all dust and dirt. Using a standard paint brush or sponge - use color #2 Seal Skin and completely cover repaired area and feather into existing paint. Allow to fully dry.

Step 2. Dry Brushing (hi-lite)Pour a small amount of color #3 Town Hall Tan on to a piece of cardboard. Using a standard 2”-3” dry brush, dip bristles into the paint. Rub the brush back and forth on the dry portion of the cardboard to remove excess paint. Very lightly, rub the brush over the top of the base color until proper effect is achieved.

For Dead Wood Areas:

Step 1. Lightly wire brush patch area and 2-3” beyond. Thoroughly clean off all dust and dirt. Using a standard brush - use color #3 Town Hall Tan and completely cover repaired area, and feather into existing paint. Allow to fully dry.

Step 2. Using color #1 Down to Earth, thinned to a 50/50 (color/water) mix, completely cover newly painted area. Let sit for 15 - 30 seconds. Wipe off with a damp sponge to create a stained effect. For larger areas you will need to periodically rinse the sponge if excessive paint builds up. Allow to fully dry.

Step 3. Applying finish wash (antiquing): Using a standard brush, apply color #2 Seal Skin, thinned to a 50/50 color/water mix. Let sit for 15-20 seconds. Wipe off with a wet sponge. Continuously rinse sponge to give an antiquing effect.
