Instructions:

HAT With J hook and Camel, ch 5, sl st to form a ring. Rnd 1: Ch 4, (counts as dc, ch1 now and throughout), *dc in ring, ch1 *, repeat from * around 10 more times. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. (12 dc, ch1) Rnd 2: Sl st in 4th ch of ch4 of previous round. Ch4, dc in same space, ch1, * (dc, ch1) 2 times in next ch 1 spc, * repeat from * around, 10 more times. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch4 on previous round. (24 dc, ch1) Rnd 3: Sl st in 4th ch of ch4 of previous round. Ch 4, *(dc, ch1) in next ch spc* repeat from * around 22 more times. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch4 on previous round. (24 dc, ch1) Rnd 4: Sl st in 4th ch of ch4 of previous round, (Ch 4, dc, ch1) in same space, * (dc, ch1) in next 3 ch spcs, (dc, ch1) twice in next ch spc,* repeat from * around. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch4 on previous round. Rnds 5-8: Sl st in 4th ch of ch4 of previous round, Ch 4, * (dc, ch 1) in next ch spc * repeat from * around. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch4 on previous round. Rnd 9: St st in 4th ch of ch 4 on previous round, ch 4, (dc, ch1) in same spc, (dc, ch1) in each of next 14 spcs, (dc, ch1) twice in next spc, (dc, ch1) in each of the remaining spcs. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch4 on previous round. Rnds 10-11: Repeat Rnd 5. Rnd 12: Ch 1, sc in same spc, *sc in next ch spc, sc in next dc* repeat from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. Rnds 13-16: Ch1, sc in first sc and in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off yarn. Rnds 17-18: Join white with sc, sc in each st around. Sl st to first sc. Ch 1. Rnd 19: Work reverse single crochet around. Fasten off yarn.

Begin with 1st segment, then work remaining segments, without breaking yarn.

1st Segment: Ch 17. Sl st into 8th ch from hook. Row 1: Sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch, dc in next ch, 2 tr in next ch, tr in next ch, 2 dtr in next ch, dtr in last ch. DO NOT TURN. Row 2: Ch 1, work reverse single crochets from left to right, in the FRONT LOOPS only of row 1. (back loops will remain unworked until next segment.) Sl st into ring formed by first 8 chs. 2nd – 10th Segments: Row 1: Working in skipped back loops, sc in first st, hdc in next st, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st, 2 tr in next st, tr in next st, 2 dtr in next st, dtr in next st. DO NOT TURN. Row 2: Ch 1, work reverse single crochets from left to right, in the FRONT LOOPS only of row 1. (back loops will remain unworked until next segment.) Sl st into ring formed by first 8 chs. After completing the 10th segment, fasten off, leaving enough yarn to sew 10th segment to 1st segment. Using yarn needle, sew beginning edge to back loops remaining on 10th segment. Use the remaining length of yarn to sew flower to hat. Or sew flower to pin to be detachable from the hat.
