Some remarkable comparisons can be made between House Sparrows and Christians.


If God cares about them, He certainly cares about us!Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. – Matt. 10:29-31


House Sparrows roost communally and their nests are often grouped together in clumps. They engage in social activities such as feeding, dust and water bathing, and group singing. (See Acts 2:41-47)


Native to the Middle East, these tiny birds have spread throughout the world, especially over the past 250 years. (greatly through nesting in ships!)

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. – Acts 1:8


House Sparrows often convince different species of birds to join their flock.

And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. – Luke 14:23


Just a minority reach maturity, with only 20% - 25% born surviving past their first breeding season.

They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

They can’t find their way nor function correctly in constant darkness.The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Very resourceful, these sparrows adapt to a wide variety of living conditions and diets. They even nest in street lights. (Fortunate ones nest in feed stores!)
