Journey to Awakening Tour December 2012
The 21st of December 2012 supposedly marks the end of the
Mayan Calendar and to that end there are many spiritual
events planned for many of the Mayan sites in Mexico for
that date. However it isn’t only the Mayans who have left
messages about this period. The Incas, Aztecs, Hopi Indians
and the Ancient Egyptians all have left us messages. The
end of the Mayan Calendar doesn’t record the end of the
world – rather it marks the ending of a long cycle and the
beginning of a new cycle.
On the 21st December 2012 the Sun aligns with the equator
of the Galactic Centre of the Milky Way. If this date is correct,
this alignment will be visible at dawn from only one place on
the planet and that is 30 degrees North. This is the exact
position of the Giza Plateau in Giza and the mighty Sphinx is
pointing the way.
One of the highlights of the Journey to Awakening Tour in
2012 will be visiting the Sphinx enclosure before Sunrise on
the 21st of December. Our tour group is the only group to
have access to the Sphinx at this time. Later that day we will
return to the Giza Plateau before Sunset to watch the Sun
setting over the Great Pyramid. We will then spend a couple
of hours in the Great Pyramid exploring the chambers
culminating in a harmonic activation of the pyramid followed
by a guided meditation and channelling.
The Great Pyramid of Giza sits at the junction of the 30th Meridian and the 30th Parallel making it the centre of the land mass of the planet. The energy grid lines of the planet all resonate through the Pyramid and with the heightened energy coming through the grid from Mexico and several other places on the 21st of December the Pyramid will be the place to be.

Apart from the private visits to the Sphinx and the Great Pyramid on the 21st of December, what sets this tour apart from the hundreds of others on offer for 2012 is that I have secured private access visits to most of the sites we visit. These include Sakkara, Philae Temple, Edfu Temple, the White Desert where we will spend the night camping under the Stars, the Egyptian Museum, the Temple of Sekhmet at Karnak as well as a few other surprises. We will also be staying in 5 star luxury hotels. The tour also includes a luxury cruise on the Nile River. As well as private access to the sites we visit and the services of Quest Travel Egypt’s expert Egyptologists and guides, there is also a program of lectures and guided meditations designed to open your spiritual awareness and to also empower, rejuvenate and enrich your mind body and spirit. Tutankhamun's Tomb - the Story of a Golden Discovery of Treasures
If you think that the golden mask of Tutankhamun which you always see in the tourist posters is just a monument like any other one..then take a while to know the importance of that mask and all the other treasures which had been discovered on that young pharaoh's tomb.
Tutankhamun's tomb is one of the most famous and monumental finds in the history of Egyptology, because it is the only undisturbed royal tomb found in Egypt. All the other royal tombs were robbed in antiquity, and indeed so was Tutankhamun's. Luckily, these burglaries were small, and the majority of Tutankhamun's goods were found intact.
In 1914, Egyptologist Howard Carter and his benefactor Lord Carnarvon started excavating in the Valley of the Kings, just after another excavator, Theodore Davis, who had worked in the area for some time, claimed that 'The Valley of the Tombs is now exhausted.' How wrong can one man be?
Carter and his team did uncover a number of tombs in the Valley, and in 1917 Carter began to search for the missing tomb of Tutankhamun (a number of objects had been discovered showing the existence of a tomb in the area).
However, by 1921 the team still had not discovered the tomb, and Lord Carnarvon considered withdrawing his funding. After much debate, Carter convinced him to fund one final season. Luckily for Carter this final season was a cracker. On 4 November 1922 his team uncovered the first stone step of Tutankhamun's tomb. The next day they cleared the steps to reveal the door, complete with ancient seals showing the tomb was intact.
The first doorway was opened on 23 November 1922, and the second doorway within the tomb on 26 November. At the opening of this door, Carter and Carnarvon saw for the first time the wonderful objects hidden for three millennia. These include solid gold coffins, gilded shrines, scores of pieces of golden jewellery, and the famous solid gold death mask.
The first chamber was officially opened on 29 November, and the burial chamber on 17 February 1923. The cataloguing of the objects started, and on 28 October 1925 the team finally opened the coffin and gazed at the face of the king who lived and died so long ago. Cataloguing and recording all the artefacts in the tomb was finally completed on 10 November 1930, eight years after the discovery.

Egyptian Gods and Goddesses
There were an incredible number of
Gods and Goddesses in Ancient Egypt,
one for almost every situation and place.
Many of the Gods began as local deities
and were later organised and merged
with others to form either a Triad or an
Ennead (nine). There were several large
schools of theological thought in Egypt,
and each proclaimed its superiority over
the others. A ruling dynasty would often
promote their chief local god to the
chief national god. For example, Amun
(associated with Thebes) did not
become a major deity until the shift of power to Thebes in the Middle Kingdom.
Many of Ancient Egypt's Gods and Goddesses share characteristics and epithets at different times in
history. For example, Sekhmet (the lion Goddess of Memphis), Mut, Tefnut and Hathor are all given the
title 'the Eye of Ra' and given the task of protecting the sun god. There is often confusion about the
different gods known as Horus. For example, Horus the Elder was often thought to be the consort of
Hathor, while Horus the younger was the son of Isis and Osiris. This is unsurprising given that the
Egyptian civilisation survived for over three thousand years, and the religious system was constantly
evolving.
RA - The Sun God
For the Egyptians, the sun represented light, warmth, and growth. This made sun deities very important
to Egyptians, and it is no coincidence that the sun came to be the ruler of all. In his myths, the sun was
either seen as the body or Eye of Ra. Ra was thought to travel in a sun boat to protect its fires from the
primordial waters of the underworld it passed through during the night. The Ra myth saw the sunrise as
the rebirth of the sun by the goddess Nut and the sky, thus attributing the concept of rebirth and renewal
to Ra and strengthening his role as a creator god. I will talk further about RA in a later Newsletter
because he is the supreme God of the ancient Egyptians.
Look out for information on the Gods and Goddesses every month as a regular feature of the Newsletter.

The Spiritual Awakening Travel Diary for John & Carla
Introducing John
Hello, I'm John. I am CEO of my own successful marketing Company which I have been running for 15 years. I built the company from an idea in my garage and now employ 135 staff. Building this Company and the network of customers and business associates has been the focus of my life for the last 15 years. I have lived for my work going to the office sometimes 7 days a week. The adrenalin rush that I get from opening up new markets and overcoming obstacles is great. I travel a lot both within Australia and overseas mainly for business. When I'm not working I like to play golf and sail my 60ft catamaran with friends. This year I will be 55 and I have no idea how I managed to get to that age so quickly. I have been married to my beautiful wife Carla for 26 years and we have 4 children. Carla is the love of my life and has been there with me all the way supporting me and keeping the home fires burning. Life has been exciting and relatively hassle free. However, early last year I got a huge wakeup call that nearly knocked me for six. Seemingly out of nowhere my life was turned upside down almost overnight. Carla became ill. She was tired and listless all the time and if I looked at her sideways the wrong way I was likely to get my head bitten off. At first we thought it was the dreaded menopause but it turned out to be more than that when other symptoms became apparent. Carla had developed ovarian cancer.
It scared the life out of me. Carla had always been there and I couldn’t begin to imagine living my life without her. I suddenly realised that without her beside me everything else had very little meaning. I off loaded a lot of my workload and supported Carla through the process of beating the big C. Together we went through the surgery and chemo. She was magnificent and fought like a Trojan. The recovery process was long and arduous but she came through it.
Introducing Carla
Hello I’m Carla. I used to define myself as a housewife and mother but these days I am also a part time uni student doing an arts history degree. I have been married to my husband John for 26 years. We met at uni where John was doing a degree in business administration. I was a travel agent and was doing some part time classes in languages. We dated for about a year and then while on a weekend away on a yacht that he had borrowed from a friend, he proposed to me, just as the sun was setting. We were married a year later. We have 4 great children – Justin 25, Allissa 23, Sharyn 20 and my baby Andy who is 17.
I worked for a while after we were married but when the children came along I gave up my career as a travel agent and devoted my life to looking after the children and of course John. My life was hectic and became even more so as the children grew and I had to ferry them all over town to their various sports and after school activities. But I loved it even though there wasn’t a lot of time in there for me.
I have a few close friends but we don’t get to see each other very often due to their career and family commitments. But I have my family to care for and that in itself has been a full time job.
About 15 years ago John began his own marketing company. He’s worked very hard and has provided the kids and me with a very comfortable lifestyle. We have a 6 bedroom house overlooking Sydney harbour which is very handy because the 3 youngest are still living at home and they love bringing their friends home. I love John but until last year his business was his total focus. I was lucky if I saw him 2 or 3 hours a day before he fell asleep.
Even though I had the kids and the house to take care of I wasn’t fulfilled. Something was missing from my life. I began meeting up more regularly with my friends and started to play tennis once a week. Just as I was beginning to feel better I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
For a while I thought that I was suffering with the symptoms of Menopause but when the symptoms became too numerous to ignore I went to get some tests done. I then had to face the grim reality of cancer. Such a roller coaster ride of emotions. John was shocked and became very withdrawn which was not what I needed from him. The kids rallied around but were also frightened about the prospect of not having me around. Fortunately the doctors were fairly confident that with surgery and chemo I would be ok. To my surprise John began spending more time with me and was there for me as I went into surgery and there for me every step of the way as I dealt with the side effects from the chemo. It took a while but I eventually came through it. John and I would spend hours just talking to each other and it felt wonderful to have him around so much. Suddenly it seemed that the things we used to think were important no longer were. Funny how it takes a crisis in your life to bring you to your senses!!
The Road to Recovery.
Once Carla was on the road to recovery I was able to breathe a lot better. I wanted to take her away somewhere where she could really relax and get back to her old self. For as long as I’ve known her she has always wanted to travel to Egypt. She came close to going to Egypt once but never got there. My sister pointed me in the direction of a spiritual tour to Egypt that gave people an opportunity to not only explore the archaeology of Egypt and the magic and mystery of Ancient Egypt but to also tap into the energy and maybe make changes to their life. Now I was pretty sure that that wasn’t going to be something that I would want to do but this wasn’t about me. This was about Carla and her road back to perfect health.
So I did some research on the internet and discovered that a lot of people were travelling to Egypt searching for a spiritual connection these days. I found a group that was offering 5 star luxury, private access to most of the sites and a promise that this would be a trip of a lifetime that would also rejuvenate our mind body and spirit. Carla certainly needed that and the 8 days on the Nile on a yacht certainly appealed to my idea of an enjoyable time.
In the next Newsletter we will continue with excerpts from the Travel Diary of Carla and John where they talk about
their journey through Egypt and about their personal Journey to Spiritual Awakening. Next month, read how John
surprises Carla with a trip to Egypt and about their first day in Cairo as well as seeing the pyramids for the first time.

Must See Sites in Egypt
The Valley of the Kings With a rich and spectacular history that dates back several centuries, Egypt is perhaps the most exotic tourist destination in the world. Home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the only remaining wonder of the 7 ancient wonders of the world, Egypt draws thousands of tourists from all corners of the globe every year. The Valley of the Kings is a desolate looking valley when you first encounter it but under the sand lies several magnificent tombs where ancient Egyptian Pharaohs were laid to rest for eternity. Sadly eternity came a little early for most of them as their tombs were plundered and their mummies removed. But one King still lies within his tomb and that is of course the great King Tutankhamun.
The Valley of the Kings is located on the west bank of the Nile. Since the start of the nineteenth century, this place has been subject to extensive archaeological exploration. The Valley was declared a World Heritage site in the year 1979. The Valley of the Kings actually refers to two valleys - East and the West. The East Valley is the primary tourist location and is home to the majority of the tombs of Pharaohs from the New Kingdom. On the other hand, the West Valley draws more archaeologists than tourists, especially because it has the tomb of Tutankhamun's successor - Ay. Most of the tombs have been cut into the limestone and follow a similar pattern of construction : three corridors, an antechamber and a sunken sarcophagus chamber. These catacombs were harder to rob and were more easily concealed. Construction of a tomb usually lasted six years, beginning with each new reign. The texts in the tombs are from the Book of the Dead, the Book of the Gates and the Book of the Underworld. Since there are numerous tombs in the Valley of the Kings with many of them richly coloured with hieroglyphs and paintings. You need an experienced guide to bring the history and the magic of these tombs to life. The Valley was used for primary burials from approximately 1539 BC to 1075 BC, and contains some 60 tombs, starting with Thutmose I and ending with Ramses X or XI. Typically, on most tours, tourists can obtain a permit for visiting three tombs but if you wish to visit the tomb of Tutankhamun you will require a separate permit. If you are not on one of our tours, it is advisable that before you visit the Valley of the Kings, that you find out which tombs are temporarily closed for renovation. Some of the tombs most commonly visited by tourists include those of Horemheb, Ramses VI and Tuthmose III. All of these tombs have hieroglyphics that transport you to the world of the Pharaohs and their rich heritage.
The tomb of Horemheb is located close to the tomb of Ramses III. Although the place is in a state of ruin, it still retains the magic of ancient Egypt. And one of the reasons for this is the presence of the renowned paintings of the two blind harpists. The tombs of Ramses and Tuthmose have inscriptions across the ceilings of their chambers and offer you a glimpse of ancient Egyptian traditions.
When you visit the Valley of the Kings with Spiritual Egypt Tours your entry is included in your tour and our guides have an amazing way of getting us into places that tourists don't get to see. No photography of any kind is permitted within the Valley but there are numerous postcards available to take back with you to remind you of the splendour that you envisaged deep underground.
