What is SPOLST??? SPLOST is a Special Purpose Local Option
Sales Tax Voters will be asked to approve the 6 year 1%
sales tax in March 2011 THIS IS NOT A NEW TAX SPLOST is a continuation of the penny sales
tax that is already being collected in Crisp Co. The current SPLOST expires in 2011

The projects funded by SPLOST have been done at no additional cost to the advalorem tax payer. SPLOST funds have been key to building Crisp Regional Hospital, several public service facilities including the Detention Center, road improvements, Recreation
Center and Youth Ball Complex, Agricultural Center and Courthouse.

the County’s revenue streamTo compensate for the revenue, an
increase in property tax of 72.41% per yr for 6 years would be required
60% of sales tax collected in Crisp Co. is collected from out of town visitors

IF SPLOST FAILS TO PASS…. The bottom line….NO funding for Higher
Education, Inland Port, Public Works, Law Enforcement, Roads & Streets, Water & Sewer Improvements, Storm Water Mitigation, Sanitation, Buildings or any other project!!!!
This is not an outcome we want to anticipate!
