systems of water and sludge treatment. A large part of this wastewater is salvaged so that it can be used again, for alternative

One of the highest pressure pipeline ever used in any water supply project in India

Greater Lunglei Water Supply SchemeThe task was to pump water up to 880 metres into the mountains of Lunglei, Mizoram. The terrain was rock-jagged, vicious. And roads, non-existent. But for us at SPML, it was a battle we were determined to win. Our people transported the construction material over 400 kms of cold blasted terrain.Laid a 12 km - long pipeline that could withstand a pressure of 135 kg/cm2

Naturally it became one of the highest pressure pipeline ever used in any water supply project in India.Built a pumping station 12,000 feet up in the mountains.

And set-up one of the world’s highest single stage pumping station to take water up to Lunglei.

India's first source to tap integrated water management contract at Latur by SPML consortium

Latur Water Management Company Ltd - The Special Purpose Vehicle was formed to implement a contract floated by Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran for operation, maintenance and repairs of Latur Water Supply Scheme. The project was undertaken in a bid to resolve the acute water problems which the populace of Latur was facing. This was India’s first Source to Tap Integrated Management Contract being executed and included billing and collection of water charges from the consumers.

The project would benefit the 4.5 lakh population of Latur with hygienic, un-interrupted water supply.

Treated waste water quality: <5mg/BOD pH levels – Limit Value: 7 to 8 Suspended solids - <5 mg/l Turbidity – 2 NTU ( 24 hrs mean) 5 NTU (5% of time during 24 hrs)

The main objective of the project was to treat the city sewage and recycle treated sewage in the neighbouring industrial units for purposes like cooling, washing and fire fighting to conserve precious water resources on a long term basis.

Contributing to the environment protection and for a cleaner /better community

Brief Project Components The project mainly comprised of raw sewage balancing tank & pump house, screening & grit removal units, primary & secondary clarifiers, aeration tank, rapid sand gravity filters, thickener, filter belt press and treated water tank with chlorination.

SPML has led several pioneering signature projects in the domain of Sewage/Waste Water/Effluent treatment. For instance - Okhla Sewage Treatment Plant (73 MLD) in Delhi - For the first time in India, SPML used a unique gas mixing system instead of the conventional mechanical mixing system for sewage treatment. The project mainly comprised of mechanical bar screens, grit removal units, primary & secondary clarifiers, aeration tank, sludge pump houses, digesters with gas mixing technology, gas holders and sludge drying beds.

A French Government Funded Project; SPML partnered with OTV – a French company, one of the world leaders in water, sewage and waste water engineering

Created the first of it’s kind sewage treatment plant for the reuse of municipal waste water in India

Design, engineering, construction and commissioning of 10 MLD tertiary sewage treatment plant consisting of three stage sewage treatment system (primary, secondary & tertiary) at Yelahaka, near Bangalore, India. A French government funded project partnered by SPML with OTV, a French company - world leaders in water, sewage and waste water engineering. The contract also included 3 years Operation and Maintenance by SPML. The total monitoring of the Treatment Plant is through specially designed SCADA system.

The Scope of Work includes underground sewerage facilities in the 24 sq. km area of this fast developing city within 30 months. The project would comprise providing, laying and commissioning 107 kilometers of sewer lines; design, construction and commissioning of 10 Pumping stations and 10 Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) with capacities ranging from 7 MLD to 17 MLD. It will also provide for the necessary pressurized ring mains for distribution and disposal of recycled water.

The system would be designed on completely decentralized basis having 10 zones across Mira Bhayandar.

This successful project was completed in 15 months;

providing drinking water to 531 villages, 10 towns and

over 8 lakh people. It has made their summers bearable

and water potable.

The overall project will comprise: pump houses at two locations, 18 Km long 2000 mm dia MS pipeline, 68 Km long1100 to 1500 mm dia GRP pipeline, 19 Km long 200 to 500 mm dia DI pipeline, canal strengthening works, SCADA & PLC besides 5 years O&M.

Water woes of Pali city resolved by SPML’s successful initiative

Pipeline linkage to result in INR 120 Mn: USD 2.5 Mn savings annually for PHED, Rajasthan

SPML’s successful execution of the 67 km GRP and 3 km MS water pipeline linkage project from Sindru to Pali was the first

ever GRP (Glass Fibre Reinforcement Pipe) Drinking Water Pipeline project in the history of Rajasthan, commissioned by

Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).

This project was primarily aimed at minimising the water crisis in Pali city, resulting in monthly cost savings of INR 30 Mn

for PHED, spent on railway transportation of water to Pali during 4 months in summer season. About 55% of total water

supplied from the Jawai Dam would serve the Pali Town, while the rest is earmarked for other urban towns and the rural areas

respectively.

Completed within 15 months, the project showcases the technological advancements and innovative engineering

methodology adopted by SPML in executing the project against challenging adversities like heavy water seepage through

existing damage of unlined canal, dense rock strata and bad soil conditions amongst other challenges. About 2.5 mcft water

is now being saved which was earlier being lost during its journey from source to destination through canal system.

The Scope of Work comprised construction of 25 MGD (million gallons per day) Effluent Pumping Station (EPS) at Rithala

STP, including twin transmission mains for carrying 33.34 MGD treated effluent from EPS at Rithala to PPCL (Pragati Power

Corporation Limited) plant at Bawana, on Design, Build and Operate (DBO) basis with a completion timeline of 11 months.

SPML will also undertake operation & maintenance for a period of 5 years post completion.

The DJB project win re-iterates SPML’s strength in the Industrial Waste Management domain. It is also notable that

throughout the years, SPML has proved its prowess and has established itself as one of the preferred companies to work on

specialised segments.

Rithala STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) project was awarded to SPML by Delhi Jal Board.

The water from the effluent pumping station at Rithala Sewage Treatment Plant would be the source for the generation of

electricity for the prestigious Commonwealth Games to be held in the year 2010. It is also a huge stride in water conservation

by recycling. Sports binds people together, SPML is proud to be associated with the games, in its own way.

Other Key Water Projects - EPC Unleashing a tidal wave of change for Sawaimadhopur and KarauliThe Chambal - Sawaimadhopur - Nadauti Water Supply Project located in Sawaimadhopur, Rajasthan is a water supply scheme with subsequent operation and maintenance for five years. It is powerfully engineered to eventually cater to the entire water requirement of Sawaimadhopur and Karauli. Further, it should also meet 50% of the requirements of Gangapur & Todabhim.

The project mainly comprises of 20 m dia x 40 m high intake well cum pump house at river Chambal, 800 m long steel approach bridge, 147 MLD water treatment plant, 27 ML raw water presettling tank, total 28 ML capacity clear water reservoirs at 4 locations, 33KV/6.6 KV electric substations at 3 locations, 165 Km long MS / PSC pipeline of pipes ranging from 1000 to 1500 mm dia besides 5 years O&M.

Single point responsibility for lift canal water supply scheme in RajasthanRajiv Gandhi Lift Canal Water Supply Scheme - Phase II - Design, Build and O & M of 205 Km of combined conveyance system to drought prone areas in Jodhpur.

The project mainly comprises of strengthening & lining of 180 Km long running canal, supply & erection of 27 pumping machinery including electrical equipment in 8 pump houses, 16 Km long MS pipe rising mains of diameters ranging from 800 to 1700 mm, 140 Km of motorable roads. The O&M of this project is being done by SPML since its commissioning in the year 2003.

Showers of blessings for over 10 lakh people across 40 villages in KeralaThe Treated Water Transmission Mains Project (JBIC funded) located in Meenad, Pattuvam and adjoining villages, Kerala is a treated water supply project that involves laying and erecting Treated Water Transmission Main Lines. Over 10 lakh people spread out across 40 villages will be blessed with clean drinking water. The project is JBIC (Japan Bank for International Co-operation) funded and has been secured in International Competitive Bid (ICB).

Racing ahead of the curve in Bakreshwar, West BengalThe Water Intake & Water Supply Package is a project for the Bakreshwar Thermal Power plant in West Bengal. It focuses on designing, building with subsequent operation & maintenance for 5 years. The project was completed in April 1999, a whole three months ahead of schedule. This was an OECF, Japan Funded Project.

The project mainly comprises of 19 Km long twin 900 mm dia MS pipeline, intake pump houses at 2 locations, 16 Km long 33 KV electric transmission line, 72 MLD water treatment plant, 34 MLD DM plant and waste water treatment plant.

Dramatically changing the course of raw water supply at Wazirabad, Delhi The Hyderpur - Wazirabad Water Project in Delhi is a water supply project - on a design, build, operate & maintain mode for 1 year. This project has been undertaken with a view to improving the raw water supply arrangement for the treatment plant at Wazirabad and to fulfill the water requirement.

The project mainly comprises of 4 Km long 2400 mm dia twin overground MS pipeline on piled RCC trestles and 1 Km long 3000 mm dia underground MS pipeline.

SPML executed Yelahanka Primary/Tertiary Sewage Plant - the First Ever Tertiary Sewage Treatment Plant of its kind in India for the reuse of Municipal Waste Water contributing to the environment protection and for a cleaner/better community.

Brought to India for the first time Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP) technology (A no dig trenchless technology) through it’s alliance with Insituform for the signature sewer rehabilitation projects in Delhi, for the Delhi Jal Board. The success of the Refurbishment of Trunk Sewer System and Implementation of Related Works in Delhi, has won accolades from all stakeholders.

360 degree transformation at Bawana, Delhi

The Combined Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), Delhi - 35 MLD located in Udhyog Vihar, Bawana, Delhi involves a 360 degree initiative that includes Design, Detailed Engineering, Supply, Fabrication, Erection, Construction, Testing and Commissioning of the plant. This project proudly works towards the conservation of environment.

Unlocking the potential for a clean environment at Nashik, Maharashtra

The construction of 70 MLD capacity Sewage Treatment Plant at Nashik, Maharashtra is a sewage treatment plant, involving the design, construction, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, start-up & performance run followed by 60 months O & M, on turnkey basis in Nashik City under JNNURM scheme.

Racing to drought prone areas in Saurashtra at the rate of one kilometer a day The Saurashtra Pipeline Project (SPP-1) located in Pariej & Kanewal, Saurashtra, Gujarat is a raw water intake project, involving turnkey execution of water intake and pumping stations with a cross country pipeline. It is slated for subsequent operation & maintenance for 24 months. The project holds the distinction of laying over 2000 mm MS pipes at 1 Km/day. The main objective of the project was to transfer the excess water from the southern region of Gujarat to the drought prone areas of Saurashtra.

The project mainly comprises of intake structures, 202 / 155 MLD raw water pump houses at 2 locations,220 m long bridge over Sabarmati river and 52 Km long 1250 / 2050 mm dia MS pipeline.

Pokaran Falssond Water Supply Lift Project for PHED, Govt. of RajasthanThe project mainly comprises of total 400 ML capacity raw water reservoirs, total 125 MLD water treatment plants, clear water reservoirs, 33KV/6.6 KV/0.415 KV electric substations, 73 Km long MS pipeline, besides 5 years O&M.

Jaipur Bisalpur JBIC funded Water Supply Projects for PHED, Govt. of RajasthanThe project mainly comprises of clear water reservoirs, pump houses, electric substations, 47 Km long MS pipelines of pipes ranging from 500 to 1400 mm dia, 27 Km long DI pipelines of pipes ranging from 100 to 500 mm dia, besides 2 years O&M.

Lakshmanpur Water Supply Project for PHED, Govt. of West BengalThe project mainly comprises of a 9 m dia raw water intake, 11 MLD water treatment plant, clear water pumping station, DI and MS pipelines for a total length of 45 Km, 11 KV electric transmission line, bituminous macadam roads and all other allied works. This is first of its kind project involving a Pre treatment Plant for determination and removal of Phenol (Organic Compound) from water and also combined air and water scouring in the filter bed for back washing purpose.

Keeping the customer first: Water Management for Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation

Located in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, this is a water supply distribution management project. An intense customer centric focused project, it broadly involves implementation of integrated information systems that span customer information, operation & maintenance, demand management and network asset management system. The initial connection ranges from 50,000 meters to 2,25,000 meters. This level of organization and commitment in managing a huge consumer base is unprecedented.
