AUTHORIZATIONS

Under certain circumstances, Penn State may grant private sponsors a commercial license to intellectual property developed with industry sponsored funds. Specifically, if all project personnel agree, Penn State may grant companies a non-exclusive commercial license (at no additional cost to the sponsor) or an exclusive commercial license (subject to a pre-negotiated royalty or fee). Please note that you will not benefit financially from the commercialization of your research results if your intellectual property is licensed under these terms.

This policy will not affect your ability to publicly disclose the results of your research (i.e. publications, presentations at conferences, etc.). Penn State will retain the right to use the intellectual property for teaching, research, and educational purposes. If you have questions or need more information, please contact your unit’s research office, the Office of Sponsored Programs, or the Office of Technology Management.
