History• The oldest sailing race in the

Caribbean with a unique and rich history. Trading schooners competed to be the fastest and therefore likely most profitable schooner.

• The first organised Round Barbados Race was held in 1936, contested by 5 schooners and won by Capt. Lou Kennedy’s “Sea Fox”in a time of 10 hours 20 minutes.

• The Race captured the imagination of sailors, media and the public alike, with popular calypsos of the time featuring the race.

• News reports are enshrined in the Barbados archives as a testament to importance of the race.
