1. About the NZ Wind Energy Conference

The NZ Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition is the annual event for New Zealand’s wind energy industry. It is

the premier industry-organised wind event in Australasia and the Pacific, and the only event where all industry

participants gather in one place to share their experience and expertise in wind energy.

Wind energy is a vital and mature part of the electricity mix. The industry is now targeting efficiencies while

continuing to innovate. In NZ, wind energy is diversifying and taking on an international focus. The 2014

conference is your chance to explore the opportunities in fulfilling wind energy’s potential, nationally and

internationally.

The conference and exhibition will open on the evening of Monday 14 April and run until Wednesday 16 April

2014. It will be held at Te Papa Tongarewa: Museum of New Zealand, on Wellington’s beautiful waterfront.

The 2014 event is themed Wind: A Safe Future. Alongside our established themes of technological and design

innovation and optimisation, engaging communities, and consenting, this year we are running specialist sessions

on finance and policy for renewable energy, health and safety for heavy industry, operations, maintenance and

training, and Australasian wind and wildlife.

Innovation in the wind sector worldwide moves quickly. The NZ industry has recognized the huge potential to

develop, streamline and target efficiencies in procedures, data analytics, forecasting, training, and maintenance.

The industry is also broadening out to become more diversified and internationally focused. NZ-based companies

are taking advantage of the skills and expertise developed here to meet opportunities in large scale installations

overseas. as well as medium-scale development and lower wind speed turbines in NZ.

The 2014 conference is the industry’s chance to explore the opportunities and challenges in fulfilling its potential

internationally and growing the local renewables sector to 90% of generation by 2025.

What’s different in 2014?

This year the conference will give you more time to network, more facilitated discussion and more opportunity to

work together on topical issues. In an election year, politics and policy will be more important than ever, so we are

holding the conference in the capital to take advantage of this fact.

Headlining the conference are:

Michael T Eckhart, Managing Director of Citi Corporate and Investment Banking, who will speak about

'Global Investment in Renewable Energy',

Tom McDaniel, Global Manager Zero Harm and Human Performance for Siemens, who will examine

‘Enhancing safety, quality, and reliability programmes while achieving measurable results’

Dr Jenny Riesz, from the Centre for Energy and Environmental Markets at the University of New South

Wales who will present ‘Wind as the New Baseload’,

Chris Karamea Insley, from the Climate Change Iwi Leadership Group, who will discuss ‘Renewable

Energy, Climate Change and Maori Development’, and

Manuela Huso, from the US Geological Survey who will examine ‘The Impact of Wind Energy on Wildlife’.

In addition, the conference will:

take a strategic look at finance, risk, and investment in the wind industry,

include a specialist one-day wind and wildlife stream,

feature national and international health and safety experts,

examine new technology, business drivers, and opportunities, and

have a strong operations and maintenance focus.

Alongside the usual industry players, we expect to attract experts in investment, finance, and innovation

opportunities. There will also be a strong focus on health and safety across the electricity sector and an intensive

ecology stream discussing wind and wildlife in New Zealand and Australia.

Why participate?

We are offering a wide choice of sponsorship, exhibition and advertising opportunities. These opportunities have

been tailored to enable a wide range of organisations to participate in the event, from smaller, special-interest

companies to larger organisations.

If your company provides technology, products, services or advice to the wind energy and electricity industries,

then you need to feature at the 2014 Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition.

Take advantage of this event to:

Connect with key industry players.

Target new or existing clients.

Gain market insight and perspective on industry issues and government policy.

Profile your business, services or products.

Network, network, network!

About the event

The conference is a mix of keynote and plenary addresses, providing an overview of industry activity and issues,

and streamed sessions covering a wide range of interest areas in depth. It is accompanied by a trade exhibition

(layout on page 23), which attracts major turbine suppliers, generators, consultants and service and equipment

suppliers. Several networking events, including the ever-popular conference dinner, provide plenty of opportunity

to meet and mingle with industry players.

Monday 14 April will include a site visit to Project Mill Creek, registration and the exhibition opening.

Then, on Tuesday 15th April the conference will be in full flow, beginning with keynotes from Mike Eckhart, Dr

Jenny Riesz, Chris Insley and Manuela Huso.

Sponsorship opportunities

Sponsoring the 2014 New Zealand Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition is a unique opportunity to increase the

exposure of your company, brand and staff within New Zealand’s electricity industry. Along with this valuable

exposure, you will show your support for the wind energy industry and the New Zealand Wind Energy Association.

We’ve created sponsorship packages that will suit a range of organisations, but we’re always happy to discuss

tailoring packages to suit your requirements.

First up are our precious metals packages (Gold, Silver and Bronze), designed to give you the maximum exposure

in showing your support for wind energy while reaching key organisations in the electricity industry. These

packages sponsor the conference overall and receive substantial benefits in return – delegate registrations, priority

in choosing the location of their exhibition booth and considerable marketing collateral.

We also have a range of smaller sponsorships designed to increase your profile at certain events during the

conference. These range from sponsoring the popular dinner entertainment, through to providing the notebooks all

delegates use during the conference. Find out more on page 11.

Your company may wish to promote your specialist supplies, services, or skills by taking a booth in the Oceania

Room that will be the hub for networking at the conference. Find out more on page 18.

4. Exhibition opportunities

Exhibiting at the Wind Energy Conference provides you with an exciting opportunity to market your business to

existing and new clients. The exhibition is completely integrated with the conference. Morning and afternoon tea,

as well as lunch, will be served in the Oceania Room, ensuring a good flow of people past the booths. In addition,

the Oceania Room will be the venue for the Opening of the Exhibition on Monday 14 April.

The preliminary layout for the Oceania Room is on page 23. There are 22 standard booths and 6 small booths

available. Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsors are given priority for choosing exhibition booths. While we will accept

exhibitor bookings at any time, booth spaces will be allocated to exhibitors after 28 January 2014.
