darts has been delivering arts for social impact in Doncaster 30 years. We are a registered

charity and company limited by guarantee and an accredited Living Wage employer.

Our mission is to create art with people in Doncaster to improve life, learning and health.

Our home, The Point, is a friendly and welcoming place, open to all. We offer lots of

creative activity here, and in communities across the borough.

2020 is our 30th birthday year and we want to make it special!

We are looking for donations of £100 - £500 to make this year’s birthday party themed

#PointFEST event better than ever. www.thepoint.org.uk/business-sponsorship

#PointFEST

We are passionate in our belief that children and young people with disabilities should

have the same – if not better – opportunities as everyone else. We found that the young

people we work with in special schools feel that there are barriers to accessing festivals –

not only practical and financial barriers, but also a lack of confidence and not knowing

what to expect.

In 2018 we ran our first ever #PointFEST – a vibrant festival for family members of all ages

and abilities. 2019’s Superhero themed event saw our audience almost double with over

500 people getting stuck into two sell-out family raves and masses of activity.

Professional artists and musicians delivered a dazzling array of high quality, inclusive and

accessible family arts activities in a venue that is friendly, welcoming, accessible and safe.

It allowed families to try out new activities, make new friends and build their confidence in

experiencing new things.

Families put The Avengers to shame with their spectacular superhero costumes, as the

likes of Cactus Man and The Flaming Carrot made their appearances.

Why The Point?

People who visit The Point for the first time are always amazed. As a listed Georgian

townhouse on South Parade, it can appear grand but unassuming. Inside, however, there

is a riot of colour, a wealth of interesting and flexible spaces, nooks, crannies and a buzz

of activity – almost like a creative Tardis. Come and visit to see for yourself!

The Point is the only Makaton Friendly venue in Doncaster. Makaton is a language

programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate. Our Artistic Director

is a local Makaton tutor and trains our artists and front of house staff in Makaton as well as

delivering training sessions for families.

We are one of six Doncaster venues with a Changing Places facility. The Changing Place

Campaign supports people who cannot use standard accessible toilets and finding

venues with one of these facilities available can make or break a family day out for many

families. All of our staff are Dementia Friends trained and we have a Dementia Champion

on the team who trains others. We are a Breastfeeding Friendly venue and work to

national Age Friendly and Family Arts Standards.

We pride ourselves on our inclusivity and the welcoming nature of our building and staff.

Our expert team of artists are also experienced facilitators, delivering high quality arts

activities with participants - often those who are vulnerable or more challenging. In

providing Doncaster residents with the skills and confidence to move forward in their lives,

we improve their ability to add to the local economy through employment, civic action

and community spirit.

What’s in it for You?

We are looking for business support for #PointFEST 2020. However, we are not only looking

for financial contributions. We work collaboratively with all of our partners and would

hope that a donation to darts is the start of an ongoing relationship that is mutually

beneficial. There is a wealth of evidence showing the positive impacts that supporting

local community based opportunities can have on a business:

Attract new clients through promotion to our participants and audience

Boost your reputation by supporting local charities

Improve the local offer for Doncaster and the quality of life for your customers

Fulfil your corporate social responsibility as a business

Help make Doncaster a more attractive place to increase tourism and appeal to

other businesses

Show that you value your employees by investing in their home town

Get your employees involved in something fun and creative – could they volunteer

at the event? We would love to have them as part of our team!

Establish your brand in a noisy marketplace

Access to local families with diverse needs

Develop a relationship with a creative, innovative and forward-thinking arts

organisation with a national reputation

Collaborate with a local charity that has 30 years’ experience in creative

engagement with genuine understanding of Doncaster’s diverse audiences
