The power kit for the 120d raises output, torque (147kW/420Nm) and sprinting power without any increase in fuel consumption in the standard cycle. Features include a larger intercooler and another control unit. The power kits are developed in accordance with the high standards of the BMW Group, specifically including long-term quality and safety tests. Also available for the 125i. The BMW M Performance Power Kit also includes M Performance lettering on the side sills (pic 2).

The mechanical differential lock on the rear axle transmits more torque to the wheel with better grip, thus minimising slip at the rear. The result is more stable cornering, optimal traction and more dynamic driving characteristics.

The silencer system provides an impressive and sporty sound – both inside and outside of the vehicle. It is constructed from weather-resistant stainless steel. Depending on the vehicle's equipment, exhaust pipe finishers may be necessary.

The eight-cylinder-look chrome exhaust pipe finishers are constructed in chrome-plated stainless steel. Highly weather-resistant, they also give the vehicle an even stronger road-presence.

3 BMW Trackstar CAT 5 The BMW Trackstar Cat 5 unit operates in the same way as the BMW Trackstar Cat 6 unit, but has the additional benefit of a Driver Authentication Device. When this device is present inside the car the BMW Trackstar Cat 5 unit can identify that the person driving the vehicle is authorised to do so.

In the event of a theft the absence of the Driver Authentication Device alerts the Control Centre who can then locate the vehicle. With reports showing that an increasing trend amongst car thieves is to steal a vehicle’s keys, recognising the theft of your car promptly greatly increases the likelihood of a successful recovery.
