This season, the Eagles will be competing in what is known as the toughest district in 2A. This year the Eagles are predicted to finish forth in district 10-2A Divison 1. Newton is the preseason favorite, followed by the Kirbyville Wildcats. Kirbyville is dropping down from 3A after making several runs deep in the playoffs in 3A. East Chambers is predicted to receive the final playoff spots. Anahuac is predicted fifth, followed by Hardin, Kountze, and Warren. Coach Steve Fentress believes this is a playoff team if it can catch a break or two. The Eagles have key players to keep an eye on next year. The Eagles will be led on defense by linebacker Marcus Harrison, defensive end Felix Johnson, and defensive backs Allen Lee and T.C. Mitchell. The offense will be headed up by quarterback Trent Daniels, running back Dominique Lockhart, tight end Torin Hickman, wide receiver Charles Fentress, and offensive linemen Garrett Derouen, Tevin Benjamin, and Cody Mitchell. “The Eagles will see improvement in over-all depth in the skill positions this season”.
