SLS PUNE SPORTS TOURNAMENT 2019

RULES & REGULATONS

General Rules

• Each participant can take part in a maximum of 2 sports events.

• Every team is expected to report to their respective venues 30 minutes before their

match and in case of delay beyond 15 minutes from the scheduled match time,

walkover will be granted to the opposition.

• The organizers will not be responsible for any player registered to play in more than

one sports event, missing an event due to any time overlaps in the schedule.

• Each participant must carry their college ID-Cards and any one Government ID-Card.

• Use of any kind of abusive language towards the referees/umpires will result in

immediate disqualification of the team from the event. The final discretion on such

matters shall lie with the organizing committee.

• Similarly, any use of abusive language or inappropriate behavior towards any player

or members of the organizing committee shall also result in the disqualification of the

participating institution from the SLS Pune Sports Tournament.

• We expect all participants to maintain decorum on all sporting arenas, university

campus, place of accommodation and related areas. Any altercations/misbehavior shall

be dealt with strictly, and the decision of the Organizing Committee in this regard is

final. Please note that an altercation may result in the disqualification of the

participating institution from the SLS, Pune Sports Tournament. The Convenor of

Sports Committee (SLS, Pune) reserves the right to change the format or rules as may

be necessary at any given point in time. He/ She shall also be the final interpreter of

the Official Rulebook, SLS, Pune Sports Tournament, 2019.

• After the registration, participants will be informed about the timings of the game via

phone call or WhatsApp.

• Cross-teams are not allowed and players are to submit their college ID-Cards before

the match without the same participation will not be allowed.

EVENT: BADMINTON

• Category: Boys and Girls

• Type of Tournament: Pool or Knockout, depending on the number of registrations.

• Maximum of 2 (two) teams are allowed to participate from one institute (Team A and

Team B).

• Teams shall comprise of minimum ’2’and maximum of ‘4’ players.

• A fixture shall consist of ‘2’ single matches and ‘1’ double match. The match shall in-

volve 3 games of 21 points each.

• Badminton racquets shall not be provided by the Organizing Committee.

• Participants are requested to carry their indoor sports shoes( non-marking shoes).

• All events are subject to registrations and availability of venues. In case of any dis-

putes, the decision of the Organizing Committee would prevail.

• All decisions by the match referees and Organizing Committee will be final.

EVENT: BASKETBALL

• Category: Boys and Girls

• Type of tournament: Knockout, depending on the number of registrations.

• The team shall comprise of 5 players. Every match shall be conducted in 4 quarters.

• Every quarter shall run for 8 minutes in the preliminary rounds; in the semi final and

final rounds the same shall be increased to 10 minutes.

• 2 (two) Teams per college are allowed. (Team A and Team B).

• All events are subject to registrations and availability of venues.

• All decisions by the match referees and Organizing Committee will be final.

EVENT: BOX CRICKET

• Type of Tournament: Knockout.

• The team players are requested to carry a cricket bat along with them, the same will

not be provided by the organizers. All other equipment will be provided by the organ-

izers.

• The game shall consist of six normal overs and one super over, in case of a tie.

• The team shall consist of 5 main players, with a maximum of 2 substitutes allowed

throughout of the match. In case of a super-over, one of the two substitute players

listed may act as a substitute in the super-over.

• Each match will be of six overs. The Finals and Semi-finals may be played for a great-

er number of overs.

Main Match

• Only two bowlers will be allowed to bowl a maximum of two overs, while the rest can

only bowl one.

• If the ball hits the wall or fence directly on either sides of the turf, it will be counted as

4 runs.

• If the batsman hits a straight shot and the ball hits the fence directly, it will be counted

as 6 runs.

• If the ball goes out of bounds, the batsman will be declared out.

• Matches will be played with Tennis Ball.

• Wide and no-ball will not be counted in the over and 1 run will be added to the score-

board for every no/wide ball bowled.

• If a bowler bowls a no-ball (overstepping) the batting team will get a "FREE HIT". If a

batsman gets run-out on a free-hit ball, it will be considered as out.

• If a bowler bowls 3 balls above the waist, he will not be allowed to bowl.

• Byes, leg byes and overthrows will be counted.

• LBW is not allowed.

• The decision of the umpire will be final and binding.

Super Over

• The runs scored in this over will be doubled and added to the scoreboard at the end of

the over. (For e.g.: if 10 runs are scored, it will be doubled and 20 runs will be added

to the scoreboard).

• 1 super substitute is allowed that can either bowl or bat (To be informed before the

match begins and it must be specified that the super sub will bat or bowl, the super

sub is allowed either to bat or to bowl, he cannot do both).

• All other details/rules (if any) of the activity will be explained on the spot by the

organizers.

• The Organizing Committee reserves the right to change the venue, time and date of

the matches if necessary.

• In case of any dispute or otherwise, the decision of the Organizing Committee will be

final.

EVENT: CARROM

1) Category: Individual, Open Doubles

2) Preliminary rounds will be a match of 15 points and semi-finals will be a match of 25

points.

3) Final will be a best of 3 clear the board match.

4) The first player breaks using his/her index finger by flicking the striker in a forward

direction (shooting backwards is not allowed at any point in the game) towards the

centre formation of Carrom pieces.

5) The winner is the first player to pocket all of his/ her carrom pieces (& the queen if not

already pocketed).

6) Players cannot leave the playing area till the match comes to an end.

7) No part of your body, except your hand or your elbow shall protrude over the frame in

front of you.

8) No Cross Teams are allowed. All participants have to bring their college ID cards.

9) All the equipment for the game will be provided by the Organizing Committee itself.

10) In case of any disputes arising at the time of the game, the decision of the Organizing

Committee will be final.

11) All events are subject to registrations and availability of the venues. Decision of the

Organizing Committee will be final.

12) Each player/team should report at the venue 30 minutes prior to the match and in case

of delay beyond 15 minutes from the scheduled match time, walkover will be granted

to the opposition.

13) After the registration, participants will be informed about the timings of the game, via

mail or phone call or WhatsApp.

EVENT: CHESS

• Category: Individual

• Two day tournament with 7-9 rounds in Swiss format.

• Maximum of 3 participants are allowed to participate from one institute.

• Sudden death time control: 25 minutes with no added time.

• A player must not have any electronic device in his pocket. Mobile phones to be

switched off or kept in silent mode during the duration of the game. Any player caught

with a phone or if a player’s phone rings during the game, he or she will be expelled

from the round and the opponent automatically wins.

• Winning a game nets 1 point, draw a half and a loss, none.

• A score sheet will be provided to everyone and although it isn’t compulsory to write

down chess notation, it is highly recommended for proof. Apart from writing down your

next move on your score sheet, one is not allowed to make notes or write down chess

analysis. Also, one should not read chess literature during the game.

• Touch-move and en-passant is to be respected.

• Two illegal moves will result in automatic forfeiture of the game.

• The player must approach the arbiter if he or she has any queries.

• Rated players must register their ratings with the arbiter.

• All events are subject to registrations and availability of the venues and decision of the

Organizing Committee will be final.

EVENT: FOOTBALL

• Category: Boys

• Type of Tournament: Knockout, depending on the number of registrations.

• A maximum of 16 teams shall be allowed to play in the tournament.

• The teams shall consist of a maximum of 16 members (11+5).

• All rules of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) will be followed

in the tournament.

• Each half in the quarter finals shall run for 20 minutes; the same shall be extended to

30 minutes for semi-finals and finals.

• All events are subject to registrations and availability of the venues.

• All decisions by the match referees and Organizing Committee will be final.

EVENT: FUTSAL

• Category: Boys and Girls

• Type of Tournament: League or Knockout, depending on the number of registrations.

• A maximum of 20 teams will be allowed to participate in the tournament.

• The teams shall comprise of 8 members (5+3).

• Each half in the quarter finals shall run for 15 minutes; the same shall be extended to

20 minutes for semi-finals and finals.

• Rolling substitution will be allowed.

• Only 2 teams are allowed per college. (Team A and Team B)

• All events are subject to registrations and availability of the venues.

• All decisions by the match referees and Organizing Committee will be final.

EVENT: LAWN TENNIS

• Category: Boys and Girls

• Type of Tournament: League, Pool, or Knockout, depending on the number of regis-

trations.

• Lawn Tennis is an individual event.

• The format of the match will be race to 6 games.

• All rules related to professional Lawn Tennis matches will be followed.

• Participants are requested to carry their own racquets and kit bags. The tennis balls

will be provided by the organizers.

• The referee will do a coin toss at the beginning of the match to decide who will serve

and who will get to pick the side. Players will be given a maximum of 5 minutes after

the coin toss to rally with each other.

• In case of a deuce, the advantage system will be followed wherein a player has to

score 2 consecutive points to win the match.

• In case of any disputes, the decision of the Organizing Committee would prevail.

• All events are subject to registrations and availability of venues.

• All decisions by the referees and Organizing Committee will be final.

• The winners will be communicated via email about their prize money and the proce-

dures connected therewith.

• The word limit for the essay shall be 4000 words (excluding footnotes, if any).

• Font Type and size for essay: Times New Roman-12.

• Line Spacing for the essay: 1.5

• 20th Bluebook edition citation should be followed throughout the essay.

EVENT: TABLE TENNIS

• Category: Boys and Girls Singles

• Type of Tournament: Knockout, depending upon the number of registrations.

• Maximum of 3 participants from each institute are allowed to participate in one cate-

gory (boys and girls separate).

• All games up till the semi-finals will be structured as a best of five. The finals will be

set up as a best of seven., subject to availability of time.

• All events are subject to registrations and availability of venues.

• In case of any disputes, the decision of the Organizing Committee would prevail.

• All decisions by the referees and organizing committee will be final.

EVENT: VOLLEYBALL

• Category: Boys and Girls

• Type of Tournament: League or knock-out, depending on the number of registrations.

• Each team shall comprise of a minimum of 6 members and maximum of 12 members.

• One college can send in a maximum of two teams (Team A and Team B).

• Initial volleyball matches will be conducted in the form of best-of-three rally-scoring

sets. (25 points per set) and the semi-finals and finals will be conducted as a best of

five rally scoring sets.

• Teams are allowed maximum of 3 substitutions per set excluding the Libero.

• Each team is allowed two time outs per set (30 seconds in duration).

• The Libero, if any, shall wear a jersey different from that of the other team members.

• Compulsory rotation for all the categories.

• All the other FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) rules will be applicable.

• All events are subject to registrations and availability of venues.

• In case of any disputes, the decision of the Organizing Committee would prevail.

• Decision made by referee regarding facts connected to play would be final.
