SportWaysWith over 20 years of experience, SportWays is the oldest and most suc-cessful organiser of hockey camps in Europe. Over this period of time, we have arranged fi eld-hockey camps in the Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, England, France and the USA and are the offi cial partner of the European Hockey Federation. Every summer over 2000 hockey players participate in our residential camps and many more in our clinics and tours. We only work with the best national and international players and coaches, the best hockey facilities and a vastly experienced team of staff & trainers. The camps are international with participants and staff from all over the world. Alongside our well-known hockey camps, SportWays also organises specia-lised goalie camps. The language of communication used in our camps is both Dutch and English with French also used in Antwerp.

Quality and ExperienceSportWays’ emphasis is on quality. This encompasses both our hockey pro-gramme and the social events at our residential camps. Fun & Learning are the main characteristics of all SportWays camps and years of experience in both our organisation and our staff is a solid base for success. Each year the training programmes are developed by Dutch premier league coaches, players and the technical staff of various national teams to focus on the latest developments in hockey.This way the participants are guaranteed to learn the very latest techniques in the sport. We distinguish ourselves by paying maximum attention to the in-dividual player and it is our mission that a SportWays camp should be a special experience for each par-ticipant, regardless of his or her level of ability.

Top staff, players and coachesTop players and coaches exclusively appear at our camps. These professional trainers, experienced in coaching and managing young players, supervise all SportWays camps, and this year, the Dutch national coach, his assistant, as well as the goalie secialist are all involved in the creation of our 2011 technical programme.

Unique locations and sporting facilitiesAll our sports facilities are top class. In Amsterdam we are guests at the national training centre of the Royal Dutch Hockey Association (KNHB) with 7 sand-based and 6 water-based pitches (Wagener stadium). In Barcelona we use the outstanding facilities of Atlètic Terrassa Hockey Club with a water-based pitch, 3 Astroturf pitches and extensive sports facilities. In Antwerp we will be staying at the Royal Herakles Hockey Club with a water-based pitch and extensive sports facilities, which will guarantee a great hockey experience. In Amsterdam, Antwerp and Barcelona players sleep in professional tents. Only during the EHF Excellence Hockey Camp Barcelona players will sleep in an indoor hall. A professional catering company pre-pares all our meals.

Safety FirstA physiotherapist will be present at each residential camp and we have also made arrangements with a GP, a dentist and a hospital. We work with a staff/participant ratio of 1:4 at all residential camps.

Social events The social staff organise evening programmes full of surprising activities from playback and theatre shows to games and parties, and all based on the social theme of that particular camp. Included in the programme:

For the past fi ve years, SportWays has supported several charities in the Developing World including ‘Stick for India’ and the ‘Sport for Hope Project’ in Zambia.

Every year, not only do we donate sports clothes and hockey sticks, but we also provide the aspiring players with a technical programme and staff members so that they can develop. In 2011, we intend to continue our support.

‘Stick for India’ is a social organisation founded in 2005 by the Spanish international hockey players and SportWays staff members Santi Freixa and Andreu Enrich. They promote the sport in the Indian rural district of Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh State), one of the poorest areas in the country. Their aim is to use the sport as a social development tool for the children.

Now, after three years of continuous work in the district, more than 600 boys and girls are enjoying the sport in their lives.

The ‘Sport for Hope Project’ in Zambia was initiated by Lutger Brenninkmijer and the International Olympic Commit-tee, together with the International Hock-ey Federation and Dutch National Federa-tion. The organization facilitates hockey accommodations and coaches for street children in Zambia.

Last year the organisation collected sports material in Europe, which was do-nated to the Zambian children. Now, the construction of the fi rst Astro turf pitch has started.SportWays general conditions are applicable. Participation of

The Hockey Camp for our Young Heroes! If this is your fi rst overnight camp,or you joined this camp before, the YoungStars Hockey Camp is made for you!This small scale hockey camp is for 10 – 13 years only and has lessparticipants than our other camps. A team of experienced andenthusiastic staff members lead this successful camp.On the beautiful grounds of Pinoké Hockey Club,you will see demos from top players and receive clinicsfrom high level coaches. They will teach you how to tackleand conquer all those spectacular tricks used by the stars!Each afternoon we’ll play the Tournament of the Starsand during the evening and into the night there willbe theme parties and all kinds of games!

The Classic of all Hockey Camps…! This camp has the perfect balanceof both hockey as well as other activities. The camp will offer you theunique opportunity to spend time practicing tricks and special dribbleswith top players from the Dutch national competition. The Top Hockey Camp is legendary! The real hockey fanatics and diehards attend this camp whereyou will be challenged on a high individual level. You will play hockey under supervision of top Dutch trainers, coaches and internationals. Many players from the Dutch premier league and national (youth) teams will visit this camp. Last year, 50% of the participants came from abroad. After the Top-level clinics you can put the new skills into practice at the International ‘Top Tournament’. The goalies can count on a balanced programme at the Goalies Club designed by Martijn Drijver, goalie coach of the Dutch National Team. All techniques will be brought up to perfection, making you a top goalie. This year we will proudly introduce Video Analysis that enables us to register and analyse your hockey progress closely.There is also time for other cool sports like Unihockey and a survival which will require both teambuilding and endurance. This summer we will onceagain visit the beautiful club of Royal Herakles Hockey Club.Hockey players and goalies from all over Europe will join this thrilling camp. International top trainers will teach you the fi nest skills of world hockey and top players will give spectacular live demos. Each afternoon you’ll play the European Hockey Tournament. But there is more, oh, oui!Of course we will pay a visit to the beautiful centre of Antwerp and there will be a rumbling social programme during the evenings with a perfect mix of games and parties! Barcelona! For the past fi fteen years Barcelona has beenone of our most popular camp destinations. Sunny weather, a swimming pool, a dazzling city and the best coachingclinics in Europe… sounds good, right? Each year, more than 300 players participate in these internationally orientated camps. With over fi fteen years of experience in the city of Gaudí and Camp Nou, we have found the ideal mixture of hockey, sea, beach, city, siesta and fi esta! In the morning you will receive clinics from (international) top trainers while in the hot afternoon sun you can relax and have a siesta. Once the weather cools later in the day you´ll play the daily tournament matches. Of course we will visit the beach and the city of Barcelona, with Las Ramblas, outdoor cafés and the grand shopping boulevards…Hasta luego a Barça…!

SportWays in Ireland will be celebrating its 10th birthday in 2011! After a decade of organising great hockey clinics and programmes, SportWays has become the biggest and most favoured home for hockey clinics in Ireland. As always, the ethos of all SportWays clinics in Ireland is to teach our players the sport by using the very latest international coaching techniques. We are delighted to announce that in 2011 we will host the following SportWays Clinics in Dublin, Cork and Limerick:

1. The SportWays YoungStars Clinic: Ages 7 - 12This Clinic is aimed at Primary School players between 7-12 years and will focus on developing and improving basic skill levels, preparing for game play as well as looking at some of the latest techniques in the sport. The Junior Clinic is guaranteed to improve your play in a safe and fun environment. The SportWays technical directors will design the course and you will be taught by a host of top players and coaches!

2. The SportWays Academy Clinic: Ages 13 - 16The Academy Clinic is for Secondary School players between 13-16 years. Individual attention will be placed on each player ensuring that participants of all abilities can take their game to the next level. Our technical directors and International players will create an interactive trainingregime which includes detailed explanation and breakdown of basic skill-sets as wellas the latest techniques being used in the sport - all with expert feedback anddemonstrations. Thomas Tichelman, coach of the Dutch men’s National team, has designed theon-fi eld hockey coaching programme for the SportWays 2011 Clinics in Ireland.Groups of friends or teams also have the opportunity to train together.Over the past few years at each clinic, there have been a number of internationalplayers from all over the world in attendance including; Jamie Dwyer, Graham Shaw,Dave Hobbs, Phelie Maguire, Conor Harte, Alan Southern, Nicci Daly and Emma Smythto name just a few. In 2011 we can expect the best line up of trainersever seen in Ireland!
