28TH ANNUAL SPRING FOR SCHOOLS
The Bellevue Schools Foundation invites you to join our annual celebration as a sponsor of SPRING FOR SCHOOLS. This annual community event will raise over $700,000 to support value-added educational programs in Bellevue’s public schools.
As a SPRING FOR SCHOOLS sponsor, you will receive an array of benefits that give your company maximum recognition and exposure to influential business leaders and community supporters at the event. This year we have added sponsor recognition opportunities at our popular educational events scheduled in the fall, winter, and spring. A full list of benefits is attached. In addition, every sponsor:
Contributes to our community’s economic vitality through support of strong schools
Partners with Bellevue’s nationally-ranked school district
Helps to educate our future business and community leaders
Through SPRING FOR SCHOOLS sponsorships, more than fifty local corporations and businesses provide the financial foundation for Bellevue Schools Foundation programs — programs that enrich learning opportunities, prepare students for college, help struggling students succeed, and support teaching excellence.
SAVE THE DATE! Friday, May 6, 2016
SPRING FOR SCHOOLS 2016 will be held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Bellevue which provides top-quality services and increased parking capacity for our audience. Registration starts at 11:30am; program begins at 12:00pm. Every dollar raised at this event helps provide our students with a world-class education, strengthening our schools and community.
JOIN US! Since 1979, Bellevue Schools Foundation has raised over $29 million dollars to develop, promote, and fund the best possible learning opportunities for all students in Bellevue’s public schools.
Please consider joining us this year as we celebrate giving back to our community – to help every student in every classroom, every day – during our SPRING FOR SCHOOLS benefit luncheon.

HONOR ROLL SPONSORS
What your sponsorship helps make possible: TRANSFORMING EDUCATION: $611,500
K-12 Computer Science Initiative, $80,000 – Introduces computer science (CS) lessons in elementary and middle school core curriculum and provides new CS electives in middle and high school. In Year 1 of this 3-year CS initiative, Bellevue is partnering with Code.org and TechSmartKids to pilot curriculum and training across the district.
Elementary STEM Initiative, $200,000 – Builds a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for Bellevue’s preschool through 5th grade students. Year 3 of this 5-year initiative brings new engineering challenges, after-school STEM enrichment, arts technology, and increases STEM teaching capacity at all 17 district elementary schools.
Middle School Social Emotional Learning (SEL), $75,000 – Brings SEL to all seven middle schools. Data shows increasing numbers of students in crisis in our schools. To support healthy, successful children, we need to teach social/emotional skills including self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, social awareness, and responsible decision-making.
College & Career Next Steps Initiative, $125,000 – Helps middle and high school students and their families explore career and post-secondary education options through enhanced college counseling, college and financial aid application workshops and support, and 24/7 access to the cloud-based Naviance college and career planning platform.
AP Capstone Diploma Program, $35,000 – New two-course high school sequence equips students with the independent research and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges. Year 1 pilot includes Bellevue and Sammamish High Schools with Newport High School joining in the fall of 2016.
Project-based Learning (PBL) Approach to High School AP Physics, $20,000 – Year 2 of this innovative project brings rigorous PBL curriculum to engage students in the new Advanced Placement (AP) Physics I course. This is a collaborative endeavor with The George Lucas Educational Foundation and University of Washington researchers.
Positive Intervention at Highland, $38,000 – Engages students in their learning and provides positive behavior intervention to help Highland students find success in school. Previous outcomes show elimination of the achievement gap for at-risk students.
Sammamish Leads, $38,500 – Problem-based Sammamish Leads summer program extends to Sammamish, Interlake, Tillicum, and Big Picture School students the 21st century skills they’ll need to be competitive.
PROJECT READINESS – EVERY STUDENT READY TO LEARN: $336,500 Early Learning, $35,000 – Provide 20 slots for children in need to attend Bellevue School District preschools. Studies show
that children who attend high-quality early learning programs can gain up to a year of additional learning.
Early Literacy Intervention, $301,500 – Helps kindergarten and first grade students at six high-poverty schools meet literacy benchmarks and paves the way for children to become strong readers by third grade. Previous years’ outcomes have equaled or bested academic growth in more affluent schools and narrowed the proficiency gap.
STUDENT & TEACHER SUPPORT: $190,000 AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), $35,000 – Accelerates student learning and helps students learn college-
preparatory study skills through AVID classes and AVID strategies embedded in core middle and high school classes.
National Board Certification, $35,000 – Improves student outcomes through rigorous training for teachers. Over the years, Bellevue Schools Foundation has supported more than 400 teachers achieving National Board Certification.
VIBES (Volunteers in Bellevue’s Education System) Mentoring Program, $120,000 – Supports recruitment, screening, training, placement, and tracking of volunteer mentors and tutors in every school in Bellevue. This successful program offers one-on-one tutoring, classroom support, study skills coaching (AVID), College Corps college application assistance, and more.
SCHOOL-BASED GRANTS: $90,000 Enrichment & Innovation Grants, $65,000 – Enhance students’ education with innovative learning opportunities in and out of

Help keep Bellevue’s public schools strong and our community a great place to work and live. Multiple publications have listed Bellevue as one of the best places to work, start a business, and live. In 2014, USA Today reported that Bellevue is the second best place to live in in the United States and highlighted our well-educated population, excellent schools and economic vibrancy.
Bellevue student results from the 2014 Programme for International Student Assessment, also known as PISA, an international benchmarking assessment of student achievement in reading literacy, math, and science, place the Bellevue School District as a top performer, second only to Shanghai, China and ahead of Singapore, South Korea, Finland, Hong Kong, and other nations. In addition, for the fifth year in a row, Bellevue’s high schools were ranked among the top schools in the United States in three different national publications:
