PREPARATIONSand and seal with DecoArt Multi Purpose Sealer. Dry wipe away any Sanding dust with the Tack Cloth.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONSBasecoat the front of the piece with half Gesso + half Peaches & Cream. Use at least two coats or until the wood piece is covered fully. Sand lightly between coats. Repeat these steps as needed. Trace pattern on with Gray Graphite. After you are fi nished with the piece add several coats of Dura Clear Satin Finish.

SkyUse vertical strokes to paint the sky with the Wash Brush. Change to an appropriate size fl at brush as needed to get around the doe. Follow the photo. First paint the light yellowish color around the Doe with Bright Yellow + Warm White. Next use the Green Mix + a tiny touch of Prussian Blue and Warm White. Blend the two colors together. This is shown on the worksheet.

Background Blue treesBackground trunks are the Blue Mix. Pull straight up with a size 6 Shader then highlight on the left side with Warm White. You could also double load the brush with Ultramarine Blue on one side and Warm White on the other. Do not make the background trees detailed or bright blue. They are to stay in the background.

Brown TreesPaint the brown trees using about a Shader size 8 and Raw Sienna. They have just a few branches and no twigs. You want the doe to be the focal point. I have a bit of refl ected light on the left side using the Blue Mix + a touch of Warm White. This is shown on the worksheet.

DoeFollow the worksheet carefully, watch the stroke directions. Use the appropriate size brushes for the face and body areas.

EarsBase around the ears with Traditional Burnt Umber; add just a touch here and there inside the ears. Add the pink mix in the center of each ear. Let this dry a bit and add Warm White hairs with the 1/4 inch Comb brush.

Face and Body of the DoeBase the dark brown areas with Traditional Burnt Umber. Paint the light brown areas with Raw Sienna + a touch of the Traditional Burnt Sienna. Remember to watch stroke direction. Base both eyes with Lamp Black. Don’t miss the left eye; there is just a little corner showing. Next outline around the eyes with the pink color; add touches of the Blue Mix + Warm White. Paint the black areas with lamp Black. These areas include the muzzle, nose, nostrils and a tiny bit of the mouth. Paint the top of the back with Traditional Burnt Umber, paint the lower part of the back with Traditional Burnt Sienna + Traditional Raw Sienna. Paint around the ears and the darkest areas straight Traditional Burnt Umber.

Highlighting the doe: Highlight around the left ear of the Doe with the pink and blue mixes. Highlight around

the eye nose and white area of the neck with Warm White as shown in the completed photo with Warm White. Highlight tiny hairs using thinned down blue mix and a liner above the muzzle.

BushesUse a size 12 worn out soft fl at brush, must have soft hairs. First put the dark base coat using the green mix-ture and use a tapping motion. Next, add Warm White to the green mixture and tap groupings of clusters on top of the dark green. Leave some of the dark green showing. For the pink bushes, mix Alizarin Crimson and Warm White together. Alizarin Crimson is a very strong color so be careful. Follow the photo and add these fl owery bushes here and there. Add slight tints of the pink color to the doe; this is not even noticeable. This balances all of the colors together. Remember to add bushes in front of the doe. Add touches of the green mix to the upper brown trees.
