Winsor McCay Day: Draw Like McCay Cartooning

Workshop - Thursday, June 13 at 2:00pm

Local author and illustrator Kevin Collier will teach cartooning

techniques. Great for ages 8 and up.

Fly Me To the Moon - Monday, June 17 2:00pm

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Apollo mission to

land on the Moon on July 20, 1969. Educators from the Air Zoo

will share how gravity keeps the Moon in orbit around the Earth

and what it takes to escape Earth’s gravity. Experience the

creation of Moon craters and the challenges involved in

landing safely on its varied surface. Learn about current and

future missions to other moons and planets in our solar system.

Animal Magic! - Wednesday, June 26 at 2:00pm

See exotic animals and learn more about each animal,

including a sloth. All ages.

Animal Astronauts - Tuesday, July 2 at 10:30am

Do you think that Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and

American astronaut John Glenn were first into space? Think

again! A little dog name Laika was the first animal to orbit the

earth. Dogs, cats, monkeys, and chimps were used to test the

safety of launching a living being into space and bringing it

back to earth unharmed. Features a variety of live mammals,

reptiles, and birds. All ages.

Lego Block Party - Wednesday, July 3 at 2:00pm

Build, play, and complete challenges with Legos. Great for

ages 7-12.

Kids Garden Club - Tuesday, July 9 at 10:00am

The Tri-Cities Garden Club will teach how to make a floral

arrangement. Completed arrangements will be displayed and

entered into the annual Floral Show. Ages 3-12, registration

required—Limit 32.

Interactive fun for parents and their little ones ages 0-2.

Learn about bees and how honey is produced. Taste the

honey and see inside an observation hive during this

Cup Stacking with Mr. Jim - Wednesday, July 24 at 10:00am

Build cup towers and take them down again with speed and

accuracy. Race to get yours stacked and unstacked the

fastest. All ages.

NERF Games - Thursday, July 25 at 10:00am

We’re turning our program room into a field of obstacles! Put

your mental and physical skill to the test to run, dodge, and

hide from the competition. NERF Blasters and darts are

provided. Great for ages 8-18. Registration required—Limit

50.

Live Music: Plain Jane Glory - Friday, July 26 at 2:00pm

A husband and wife duo specializing in a brand of Neo-

Folk/Americana music that is honest, passionate, heartfelt,

eclectic, and nostalgic all at once. Kid-friendly. Great for

adults and children.

Magician Renee Hudson - Tuesday, July 30 at 2:00pm

Magic and comedy meet in this entertaining, all ages show.

Harry Potter's Birthday - Wednesday, July 31 at 2:00pm

Celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday with games, crafts, and

treats. All ages.

Join with the Outdoor Discovery Center’s special agent

naturalists as we investigate mind-bending animals.

Which animal sheds and then eats its own skin? Which of

Michigan’s animals originated in Asia? Have you heard

about the vampire of the great lakes? Please accompany

us on this journey into the unknown, featuring animals

native to Michigan. All ages.
