EVEREST ’76 WITH BRONCO LANEAs members of a British Army team, Bronco and colleague Brummie Stokesbecame the 4th and 5th Brits to reach the summit of Mt Everest, on theafternoon of 14 May 1976. Whilst descending, they were forced to spend thenight without protection from the elements in an unplanned bivouac just belowthe summit, sustaining severe frostbite to fingers and toes. Fortunately soonafter dawn, two fellow climbers appeared and escorted them down, thusallowing Bronco to tell the tale.

OLD HERBACEOUS by Reginald Arkell A one-man show tracing the 70 year long relationship between HeadGardener Herbert Pinnegar and his employer Mrs Charteris, as he tendedher Gloucestershire country manor house garden. This enjoyable, gentlyphilosophical, spell-binding play reveals how the boy grew up tobecome the legendary head gardener "Old Herbaceous", the mostesteemed flower-show judge in the county and famed horticulturalwizard. As Bert potters around his plant pots and gardening tools, herelates tales of his life as a gardener. He gives gardening tips and evencookery suggestions and through his eyes the audience are drawn intohis special world and treated as garden party guests who are nosing inon his greenhouse.

Conceived to coincide with the 90th anniversary of theclassic silent horror film, electro jazz duo Cipher willperform their new score live alongside the film. This early, highlyinfluential and artistically acclaimed German expressionist film tellsthe story of the deranged Dr Caligari and his faithful sleepwalking Cesare,and their connection to a string of murders. Critics worldwide have praisedthe film for its expressionist style, complete with wild,distorted set design. TABLE MANNERS by Alan Ayckbourn The play takes place in the dining-room of a countryhouse over one weekend. The house belongs to an unseenbut tyrannical invalid woman whose unattached daughter, Annie,cares for her. Annie's brother Reg and his wife Sarah arrive to takeover nursing duties so that Annie can go away for a ‘dirty’ weekend withNorman, Annie’s unsavoury brother-in-law. Thwarted by Sarah, Norman isfree to wreak social havoc, which he does. Finally Ruth, Norman's wifecatches her husband with her two sisters apparently fighting over him. LADS

are delighted to present this fast-paced Ayckbourn comedy with insights into the more ridiculousbut nonetheless familiar aspects of the English middle classes at play.

The Market TheatreSituated in Market Street (off Bye Street) the Theatre is owned and run by the Ledbury AmateurDramatic Society for the benefit of the community. The building, which opened in January 2000, isan intimate space with modern purpose-built facilities; and provides a dedicated venue for amateurand professional performing arts. It has 128 seats, foyer, bar, wheelchair access, disabled toilet anda hearing loop. Parking: two public car parks are off the top of Bye Street (clock tower at the top)

and are free after 6pm

Ledbury Amateur Dramatic SocietyLADS was founded in 1938 and has some 250 members and friends. They put on various
