Mission Statement: The Lions Club of Springfield and the Lions of Springfield Charitable Foundation, Inc., are service organizations made up of members whose goals are centered on assisting the youth and adults of our community, especially the hearing and visually impaired, and providing assistance for other humanitarian needs. We encourage service-minded people to serve their community through our organization by taking an active interest in the civic, cultural, and social welfare of our community. It is our desire to grow personally and professionally during our service. KING’S KORNER Yes, we had a meeting although it was not nice weather. We had about 20 Fearless Lions . Our speaker was our James Cavallaro. He spoke on Campaign a three-year campaign to raise 300 Million by June 30, 2021. This is a Lions Club International campaign. This will, with your gift , make a safer and healthier world that will give Lions a greater opportunity to Fight Diabetes, Hunger, Childhood Cancer and Environmental Issues. You know what the impact and service we have as Lions does in our Community. Those who were not at the meeting should give Jim a call. He can tell you more and give or send you more information and a Pledge Card. Another good meeting. Remember we have Easter Baskets April 11-12 Packing and delivering on the 13. At the High School. Times will be out shortly. Our next meeting the 26th at Anthony 's. Our speaker will be Barry Koffel and his wife Lion Judy. Barry is a PDG (96-97) and a Life Member of the Harleysville Lions’ Club. NEW FUNDRAISER

Plans are being formulated to have a new fundraiser. The fund raiser is a flea market/garage sale event. The plans are still being developed and member input is encouraged. The tentative date is October 5th.

MEMBER ACTION NEEDED

Ed Rocco is looking for a volunteer(s) to help with the chicken BBQ and next year’s programs. Call Ed at 610-543-2201

Easter Baskets: We will start collecting food donations (canned goods and non-perishables) at the February 26th dinner

meeting. Help will be needed to pack and distribute the Easter Baskets containing food for needy Springfield residents. We pack on April 11, 12 and 13 starting at 10AM (tentative) in the Blue Gym at the

high school. We will deliver 65 baskets on April 13th starting at 9:30AM. Contact Dave Krauter (610-543-1268) for more information.

NEW LCIF INITIATIVE

LCIF is celebrating 50 years of service and is funded entirely by charitable donations of Lions. Since its founding, LCIF has awarded $1 billion through 13,000+ grants to prevent avoidable blindness, creating social and emotional learning programs for youth, providing over $118 million in disaster relief and helped millions of people through humanitarian programs.

LCIFs current initiative, Campaign 100, is to expand global services to include hunger relief, childhood cancer and environmental issues.

The goal is to raise $300 million by June 30, 2021. LCIF is asking for member support to accomplish this. There will be more information about this. For more information about LCIF, visit www.lcif.org.
