States’ Positive Views: 10 CFR Part 37

• Rulemaking: more transparent method • States were engaged early and often • States provided opportunity to comment on

the draft proposed rule resulting in changes • Basis: Health and Safety instead of Common

Defense and Security

Part 37 Development

• State representatives assisted NRC in developing responses to public comments

• Progress made in addressing state issues– Reviewing Official Approval– Credit Check– LLEA capability degradation notification– LLEA notification at temporary job sites

Status of SSR Part V

• Part 37: mostly Compatibility Category “B”• Little flexibility in developing SSR• Draft Part V sent to reviewers in May 2014• Comments received by August 2014• Send to CRCPD Board by September 2014• Completion by end of 2014
