2. MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
A. Metering Pump - Serials 22-2438 & subs, 22T-0001 & subs w/ Basic² Ice Protection (See Figure 30-062)
(1) Servicing - Metering Pump
Note: To remove air from the system requires a significant amount of pressure (45-55psi), which the metering pump(s) is not capable of creating in most circum-stances. The most effective and efficient way of removing air from the porous membrane is to perform the Porous Panel Purging procedure.
The metering pump is primed by the priming pump during the first 10 seconds of operation.
(a) Cycle system ON - MAX for 10 seconds, then OFF for 10 seconds.(b) Repeat until metering pumps are primed.(c) If metering pump does not prime after 20 cycles:
1 Disconnect supply line from metering pump to filter and supply line from priming pump to wing tank.
2 Continue to cycle system ON - MAX (10 seconds) and OFF (10 seconds) until clear, air-free fluid is observed from priming pump.
3 Reconnect supply lines and perform Operational Check - Serials 22-2438 & subs, 22T-0001 & subs w/ Basic² Ice Protection
(2) Removal - Metering Pump(a) Set BAT 1, BAT 2, and AVIONICS switches to OFF positions.(b) Pull ICE PROTECTION circuit breaker.(c) Drain deicing fluid. (Refer to 12-10)(d) Remove LH passenger seat. (Refer to 25-10)(e) Remove carpeting to expose access panel CF4L. (Refer to 06-00)(f) Remove cabin access panel CF4L. (Refer to 06-00)(g) Disconnect electrical connector to metering pump.(h) Place container below coupling to catch fluid drip.(i) Disconnect nuts, olives, and O-rings securing tubing to metering pump.(j) Remove screws and washers securing priming pump to metering pump.(k) Remove bolts and washers securing metering pump to fuselage.
