    May Ka's splendid dancing, which is accompanied by the melodies of the lute, flute,and drum and the tinkling of the gops' karatlas and ankle-bells, and which reveals Hischarming smile and the graceful three-fold movements of the vine of His transcendentalform, bring bliss to the three worlds.

    "This is not a smile, but moonlight. These are not eyes, but lotus flowers. These are notears, but Kmadeva's bowstring (stretched) for the conquest of the world". May theblissful gops' bewilderment, born from their gazing at Ka's face, bring to you ahundred benedictions.

    The peacock feathers in His hair move in the gentle Malayan breeze. The Kmadeva'sarrows from His crooked restless eyes pierce the hearts of the beautiful gops and arouse

    their desires.

    Worship Ka. His heart is blissful with amorous pastimes. The moons of the beautifulgops' faces fill Him with amorous longing.

    the transcendental qualities of Lord Nryaa, the intimate friend of Lakm's necklace?

    Stradhra: How? It is worshipable. It is an ocean of many kinds of knowledge. Desiring todescribe it, even Bhaspati becomes bewildered. (Reflecting for a moment). Ah! I remember.

    Stradhra: Beloved, I will now show the musical play named r Jaganntha-vallabha,which is decorated with many virtues, which is dear to Gajapati Mahrja Pratparudra, andwhich was written by the poet Rmnanda Rya, whose heart is decorated with Lord Hari's

    lotus feet, and who is the son of Mahrja Bhavnanda Rya, himself a personal student ofBhaspati and an ocean of virtues, beginning with all knowledge, beginningless cheerfulness,profound gravity, politeness, patience, and compassion.

    tath-then; ca-also; ayam-this; kavi-poet; sa-with; vinayam-humbleness; idam-this;avadit-said; na-not; bhavatu-may be; guna-of good qualities; gandha-the scent; api-even;atra-here; nama-indeed; prabandhe-in this composition; madhu-ripu-of Lord Ka, theenemy of the madhu demon; pada-feet; padma-of the lotus flower; utkirtanam-glorification;na-by us; tath api-nevertheless; sa-hdaya-kind; hdayasya-whose heart; nanda-of bliss;sandoha-an abundance; hetu-the cause; niyatam-certainly; idam-this; ata-therefore; ayam-this; nisphala-fruitless; na-not; pryasa-endeavor.

    The author humbly said this: "It may be that this play has not the slightest fragranceof any good quality. Still, I have glorified Lord Ka's lotus feet within it. For this reason itwill delight the kind-hearted devotees and my labor will not be fruitless."

    mdula-gentle; malayan-from the Malaya Hills; vata-by the breeze; acanta-sipped; vici-of

    waves; pracare-movement; sarasi-in a lake; nava-with fresh; pargai-pollen; pijara-orange-coloured; ayam-this; klamena-with exhaustation; prati-each; kamala-lotus; madhunam-of thehoney; pana-by drinking; matta-intoxicated; dvirepha-a bumble-bee; svapiti-sleeps;kamala-a lotus flower; kose-closed; niscala-motionless; aga-whose limbs; pradose-in thebeginning of evening.

    At the beginning of evening, in a lake where a gentle Malayan breeze sips the waves, abumble-bee, yellow with new pollen, intoxicated by drinking the honey of each lotus, andmotionless with exhaustion, now sleeps in a closed lotus flower.

    Stradhra: (With happiness) Beloved, well done! Well done! Because this makes meremember Lord Nryaa who, wearing yellow garments and His limbs exhausted byenjoying pastimes of drinking the honey of hundreds of gops' lips, lies on a bed, His chestdecorated with the pillow of an expert gop's breasts.

    Rdh: (Becoming peaceful and composed) By the time you were half-finished, I hadalready abandoned this Ka. (involuntarily trembling) Noble lady, this is not My fault,because if, by chance, the transcendental form of Ka comes before My path of vision, My

    heart, injured from being beaten, will be stolen away by Cupid, happiness personified.*

    Because I could not see the beautiful form of Ka to My heart's content, when I again seeHis form I shall decorate the phases of time with many jewels.*

    The slender young mango-tree whose roots You watered with Your own lotus hand hasgrown a great crown of new buds. I think the bumble-bees talk very affectionately to it.
