Despite curfew in Pulwama district, mourn- ers drove in thousands to Tral to participate in the funeral and to have his last glimpse. At least 20 back to back funeral prayers were held at Eidgah in Tral, which also saw the par- ticipation of some militants. People started arriving in Tral soon aſter the news about Burhan’s killing broke out Friday evening. By late night, all the roads and streets in Tral were flooded by the people including women who had travelled from different dis- tricts. As time passed by, a huge gathering of people assembled outside Burhan’s house by the midnight even as local mosques were reverberating with pro-Pakistan and pro-free- dom slogans for the whole night. At around 2:50 a.m., Burhan’s body reached his home. “People can come here to have his last glimpse,” an announcement was made on loudspeaker in a nearby mosque. And within no time, the lawns of Burhan’s house and all the streets were filled with people, who were chanting pro-freedom and pro-Burhan slogans. Youth took the charge of the situation to allow people to see their “beloved commander.” “I have come all the way from Ganderbal to have last glimpse of my hero,” said Muzaffar Ahmed. “It was Burhan who revived militancy in Kashmir and brought the issue back into the focus.” Cabinet to assess situation Srinagar: The State Cabinet will meet on Sunday at 12 noon to dis- cuss the situation in the aſtermath of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani’s killing. Sources said Police Chief will present assess- ment about the situation. Srinagar, July 9: Scenes of horror and agony were witnessed at hospitals across Kashmir where people injured in action by security forces were brought for treatment.

Tral, July 9: About 2 lakh people participated in the funeral of slain tech-savy Hizbul Muja-hideen commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani at his native town of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

Despite curfew in Pulwama district, mourn-ers drove in thousands to Tral to participate in the funeral and to have his last glimpse. At least 20 back to back funeral prayers were held at Eidgah in Tral, which also saw the par-ticipation of some militants.

People started arriving in Tral soon after the news about Burhan’s killing broke out Friday evening.
