In order to enjoy the various advantages of electricity in premises certain precautionary and method of wiring using

appropriate accessories must be adopted to avoid hazard associated with the use of electricity.

TYPES OF CONSUMERS / WIRING

1.DOMESTIC : e.g Houses, (Private, rental e. t. c), multistory, Bungalow. These utilizes less electric power because of less consuming activities

2. COMMERCIAL: These are industrial or institutional premises of which their power demand is very high due to their consuming activities.

Electric Circuit is that path through which current flows. The complete path is made up of cables used in connecting all necessary component in the circuit.

TYPES OF WIRING

1.D.C CIRCUIT: A complete circuit path of which the components are connected ( serial or parallel) must have: i. Source of e.m.f (power) ii. Control-Switch, Fuses, Circuit Breaker iii. The Load e.g Lamp, Motor e.t.cNOTE: Ohms Law applies

2. A.C WIRING: These have the requirement of D.C but with slight deference, that is the hazard involving a.c usage which its safety rules must be adhered to.

A.C POWER should terminate by the consumers main terminal which is preceded by cut –out and energy meter properly earthed, distribution box and accessories.Circuit are wiring of lightening, sockets involves different load ratings and need requirement.

WIRING TOOLS: Pliers, Hammer, Screwdriver, Knife, Punches, Cutter, Hand gloves e.t.c

WIRING MATERIALS : Insulation tape, Clips, Wooden blocks, Cables, Screws e. t. c
