August 4, 2011 the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce held its monthly membership luncheon. Our guest speaker was the Honorable Alabama Supreme Court Justice James Allen (Jim) Main. With him was special guests Judge J. Michael Joiner and Judge Liles Burke, both of the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals. Brenda Frias, of Alabama Power Company and President of the Chamber welcome the members and guests to the luncheon that was sponsored by AT&T, White Rock Quarry & Blue Spring Manor Inn and Spa. Blue Spring Manor Inn and Spa prepared a fabulous menu featuring Mary Ellen Salad, Grilled Chicken Kabob, Orzo, Freshly Baked Bread and Cream Cheese Pound Cake with Fresh Strawberries and whipped cream. A special announcement was made highlighting the upcoming chamber Jeff Falkner Memorial golf tournament and SEC Tailgate Party on September 15th & 16th

by Mary Strehle and Matthew Allen.The Chamber announced and welcomed newest members Area 41 Pizza, Pa Paw’s Restaurant, Designer Awards, Mt. Laurel Dentistry, Jacob’s Ladder & Life House Church, Pricilla Perry-Silpada Jewelry and Alliance CPA.Mayor Ray McAllister of Vincent gave the invocation and welcomed everyone on behalf of the City of Vincent. Businesses that expo-ed at the luncheon included Frontier National Bank, Vincent Gardens, Smith Associated Foods Grocery, White Rock Quarry, Vincent Historical and Environmental Society, Vulcan Information Packaging, Silpada Jewelry and Trade bank. Announcements made and door prizes were distributed. A huge thank you to the many RSVP volunteers and chamber ambassadors for helping with the luncheon program. Safe House provides shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and provides many services for those affected by the crimes. Safe House employees often transport children staying at the shelter to school, and transport adults to doctor’s appointments, courthouses and other destinations.
