American Advocacy Group exists to provide top quality, affordable advocacy for individuals with disabilities and families with disabled children in California. Our experienced, dedicated staff is here to help you receive the benefits and assistance you’re entitled to, providing step by step advocacy at every stage of the process.




Advocacy Makes a Difference

When you choose AAG to represent you, we will hold an in-depth consultation with you free of charge. During this consultation we’ll review the facts of your case and work with you to make a plan to secure your benefits. We can suggest programs you qualify for that you may not know about, as well as identify any areas where research is needed to strengthen your case.





Comprehensive Services

For adults or families, we can help you apply for Social Security Disability income and Supplemental Income. If you’ve already been turned down, we can represent you in your appeal.

We understand complicated IHSS guidelines and can help seniors, disabled adults and families with disabled children receive all the benefits you’re entitled to.

AAG can join your IEP team, help you choose the right programs and services for your child, advocate for you against an unfriendly school district and even represent you at a Due Process hearing to enforce your child’s rights.

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS)

In-Home Supportive Services provides crucial benefits for families of children with developmental disabilities. Unfortunately, applying for and receiving these benefits is notoriously difficult and many families give up after encountering roadblock after roadblock. At American Advocacy Group, our mission is to help you throughout the application process and get you the assistance you deserve.





Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

For individuals and families coping with a disability, Social Security Disability benefits (SSD) and California’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) can make a world of difference. But many households that would qualify for SSD and SSI never apply, and the majority of those who do apply are turned down—often for no good reason.

At American Advocacy Group we are dedicated to helping all disabled persons qualify for the maximum Social Security benefits they’re entitled to.





Conservatorships and Special Needs Trusts

When you are responsible for a loved one with a disability, a plan is neededin order for the financial security and services that the disabled individual requires in order to live a fulfilling life, as independently as possible. It’s necessary to assess the costs for the essential support, identifythe government benefits for which the person is eligible and may be receiving, and plan for the future when your child is an adult, including filing for a conservatorship if the individual will be unable to make important decisions independently, and a special needs trust when caregivers have passed away.





Educational Advocacy

Families with special needs children already face substantial financial pressure to manage at-home care. Unfortunately, school districts often exacerbate this pressure by failing to provide the special education support that disabled children are entitled to. When that happens, the best thing that parents can do is seek educational advocacy.





Due Process Representation

For parents with a developmentally disabled child, a due process hearing is one of the most important legal tools afforded to you. Unfortunately, few parents know that these hearings exist and even fewer use them. At American Advocacy Group, we believe that every disabled child deserves an equal education and we know how to use the due process system to enforce your child’s rights.





Who Is Eligible for IHSS?

A person is eligible for IHSS who is a California resident who is living in his or her own home, and who meets one of the following conditions: (1) Currently receives SSI/SSP benefits at the individual rate4. (2) Medically needy aged, blind or disabled. Cal. Welf. & Inst. Code §14132.95. (3) Meets all SSI/SSP eligibility criteria, except for income in excess of SSI/SSP eligibility standards. (4) Was once eligible for SSI/SSP benefits, but became ineligible because of engaging in substantial gainful activity, and meets all of the following conditions: (a) The individual was once determined to be disabled in accordance with Title XVI of the Social Security Act (SSI/SSP) (b) The individual continued to have the physical or mental impairments which were the basis of the disability determination (c) The individual requires assistance in one or more of the areas specified under the definition of “severely impaired individual” Cal. Welf. & Inst. Code §12305.5 (MPP 30-755.1)
