Welcome to St. André’s Parish! No matter who you are, where you’ve come from, or what brings you here, we’re so glad to have you with us. St. André Bessette (1845-1937) spent much of his life serving as the door-keeper of his religious community; like him, we strive to open doors for our neighbors to experi-ence the loving mercy of God. May Jesus fill your heart with his grace and peace!

Baptized in Water & the Spirit

St. André’s Parish congratulates Christopher and Erica (Sauther) Brooks on the Baptism of their daughter, Ellie Bea Brooks at Notre Dame Church on Sunday, November 22, 2020 by Deacon Brent Charland. St. André’s Parish also congratulates Sean and Kierstyn (Miller) Newara on the Baptism of their daughter, Piper Lynn Newara at Notre Dame Church on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 by Dea-con Brent Charland.

    From Deacon Brent…..

Well, don’t we all look pretty in pink!!! The 3rd Sunday of Ad-vent is rose (pink) because pink symbolizes joy, and the joy of Jesus is almost here. When parents get ready to bring a new baby home, they typically paint the baby’s room pink or blue. They do this out of joy for the baby’s arrival. Don’t forget that we will have Adoration this Sunday for Voca-tion Awareness from 2:00pm-3:00pm, so spread the word. Please come and spend a little time with our Lord. Our annual Christmas basket ministry is shaping up nicely and we will contact those that are helping, This is a great team effort and brings so much joy to those in need. Looks like we will be decorating for Christmas on the 20ths of December after the 11:00am Mass. We have a lot of talent in this amazing parish and if you would like to help out, please call the office, even if you just want to sweep the floors. Many hands make easy work!! There might even be a doughnut or two. I look forward to working with anyone that cares to join us. Because we wear rose (I think it’s pink), it symbolizes JOY. This week please pray about the joy you have in your life, and pray for those whose lives are void of any type of joy. As always, pray for the return of Fr. Steve, pray that he many share in all our joy as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savoir.

2ND COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS

Make a difference. “Every dollar makes a difference in covering our expense,” says a Trappist abbot. Hundreds of US religious communities struggle to provide for aging members because most senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests served for little pay. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps these communities bridge the gap, offering support for medications, nursing care and other necessities. Please be gener-ous.

    CHRISTMAS COLLECTION

The Diocese of Ogdensburg’s Retirement Plan for Priests has long been supported by a percentage of parish contributions from its annual Christmas collection. This Christmas, to help parishes with financial stress due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the diocese is reducing the contribution from 75% to 50% of the Christmas collection, with the parish keeping the balance. Currently 40 retired priests, and 11 active priests age 70 and older, are ex-pected to receive pension benefits of $970,000 in 2020-21. Also 100% of the cost of health insurance premiums for retired priests, estimated at $220,000 this fiscal year, is paid by the Plan. Your generous contribution not only supports current retirees but will also help provide for the retirement needs of priests who will retire in the future. Say thank you to your pastor and all priests of the diocese through a generous contribution to our Christmas Collection.

Official Notice St. John Bosco Church was relegated to profane but not sordid use and that permission to sell St. John Bosco Church was grant-ed by decrees dated November 25, 2020. Petition for canonical recourse must be made to Bishop LaValley. In October 4, 2020 bulletin, you were made aware that there was an interest in the possibility of selling St. John Bosco Church & Rectory to another Christian Church. St. André’s Parish would like you to be aware that the Living Hope Church had made an offer and St. André’s has accepted this offer.

Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive

"There are three kinds of giving: grudge giving says, I have to; duty giving says, I ought to; thanksgiving says, I want to. The first comes from constraint; the second from a sense of obligation; the third from a full heart." Rev. Robert Rodenmayer

Sacrament of Baptism Parents who wish to have a child baptized should contact Rev. Steven Murray to make arrangements for the date and for a program of preparation. Parents are highly encour-aged to make arrangements at least three months before the child is born, as the Catholic Church encourages Baptism for infants as soon as possible after birth. Adults and older children (seven years or older) interested in Baptism or en-tering into full communion with the Catholic Church should inquire about the program of preparation (R.C.I.A.: the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults).

Sacrament of Matrimony A Catholic wishing to be married in one of our churches should contact one of the priests at least six months prior to the desired date in order to begin making arrangements. A program of preparation is required. The parish should be contacted before any other plans are made—for example, the wedding reception.

Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick For those preparing for surgery, nursing home residents, or the homebound, contact one of the parish priests to make arrangements to be anointed. For those in the hospital (especially in the event of an emergency), ask the hospital staff to contact the priest on call.
