This, of course, is a great privilege for our community to have the first class Relic of a saint who is renowned as the patron of the impossible causes and also a duty to live a life like him. Jesus asked his disciples to teach everything the church has been handed over by Him (Mathew 28, 20). That was the last commandment of our Lord to His apostles which we carry out today by our CCD and faith formation programs. Our Church exhorts us to take seriously our Catechism program for children. It is highly recommended that no children be absent for any of the CCD classes or be denied of an opportunity to learn the faith. May I request every parent not to miss a single day for Catechism. Saint Jude’s deeply appreciates all the CCD teachers and their firm commitment to help the church founded in strong faith. Catechism begins at home. It is the example of the parents what matters the Most. The daily family prayers, Loving God and neighbors, fasting and a virtuous life are the most important expressions of an authentic Christian life. Parents need to be equipped of the deposit of our faith. There are opportunities for the adults to learn our faith in groups. St. Jude Vacation Bible School-2013

This year our annual vacation bible school was held from August 12-16, 2013. We had 67 kids and over 40 vol-

unteers who came to STAND STRONG FOR GOD at VBS KINGDOM ROCK. Kingdom Rock VBS started

with great enthusiasm and fanfare. VBS was inaugurated by Fr. Tomy Augustine who was a former rector for a

seminary and college in Calcutta, India. Here at Kingdom Rock kids learnt that God’s kingdom is not a fairytale

but God really loves us all. Each day kids went through different stations learning one bible verse and a bible sto-

ry related to the main theme. They also got to meet new buddies who taught them more about God’s kingdom

with a simple Bible point. We would like to thank each and every one for the amazing support and commitment

to help kids STAND STRONG FOR GOD.

All night vigil and Eucharistic Adoration

“Arise ,cry out in the night, as the watches of the night

begin; lift up your hands to

him for the lives of your chil-

dren”( Lam 2:19)

Every Christian vigil derives it’s

meaning from the Christ’s triumph

over death, sin and evil . Keeping

nightly vigil until dawn, we enter

in to the paschal dynamic of pass-

ing with Christ from darkness to

light. Night vigil will enhance the

power of our prayers and also

strengthen our relationship with God. Night vigil will help us

tackle the challenges that toss us like giant sea waves, break the

bonds of Satan and become free from other magical powers of

evil spirits in our life.

All are welcomed to the all night vigil we have on third Fridays.

The vigil begins with mass in Corpus Christi Church at 7:30 pm

on all third Fridays. The mass will be followed with Adoration of

the blessed sacrament and ends at 5: 00am with holy mass.

St. Jude Relic at St. Jude Catholic Church

We have received the first class relic of our patron saint

Jude. Every Tuesdays we have Malayalam mass and

Novena to St. Jude at 7:30 pm in Corpus Christi

Church. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity not only

to honor the saint, but also to be honored by his holy

and venerable presence.

St. Jude Kids Choir

Last year our kids choir got few

more enthusiastic singers. Right

now we have approximately 25

kids in this group. Since we want

to provide opportunity to every kid

who is interested to sing, this year

we have decided to split the kids

choir in to 3 mini groups. This will

provide the choir coordinators more time to train these

budding singers and at the same time we will help them

manage a smaller group.

These groups are formed based on the geographical

location of our community. This will ease the travel time

for parents to drop off their kids for practice sessions.

Practice session dates and locations will be announced

in advance by the coordinators who are assigned to that

group.

Each group will be assigned a Sunday to sing the com-

munion song and the recessional song.

Further details about the group names and the kids allo-

cation will be sent to parents who are already regis-

tered. For kids (1st grade above) who are interested to

join this group can contact Lin Thomas, Preena Robert,

and Shaju Joseph.

One of the most influential saints in the Catholic church is one who is known in most households as Don Bosco. Don Bosco dedicated his whole life for the betterment of children and youth. Saint John Bosco was born in 1815. He was born in a little town called Becchi, Italy to a poor family. His father died when he was very young, thus his mother had a great influence on him. Because he was born into a poor family, he did not get any chance to have a decent early education. This became a huge obstacle for him to pursue his dream of becoming a priest, since at that time, priesthood required a good educational back ground. However, another priest helped him in his studies and enrolled him in school later and in 1835 he eventually joined seminary and became a priest. After becoming a priest, he realized the sad state of so many children around him. So many were abandoned, many were living on the streets, and many more were locked up in prisons. Don Bosco wanted to do something for the youth. Because of his own troubles and poverty as a child, he could identify with the hardships faced by young children. Don Bosco started an oratory for the children. The oratory was basically a community for underprivileged youths and a home for homeless children. The oratory grew from a starting attendance of 20 youths to a maximum of 800. Later on Don Bosco founded Salesian Socie-ty to continue his mission to work among poor young generation. John Bosco died in 1888 and was canonized in 1934 by Pope Pius XI. By the time of Don Bosco's death in 1888 there were 250 houses of the Salesian Society in all parts of the world, containing 130,000 children!

Saint's corner for Kids - St. John Bosco

The four evangelists used three different Greek words in referring to the miracles of Christ– Teras (wonders), Dynamics

(miracles), and Semeion (important). John favored the word Semeion because it showed the most important point about

Jesus.

Until the 15th century, the church administration of the nasrani’s were carried out by a democratic group of elders on the

local, regional and national level called palliyogam, which was described as a “Christian Republic” by some European

Kids Ministry Pilgrimage

In celebration of the First Anniversary of kids ministry ,St. Jude community went on a pilgrimage to the

National Shrine Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes, located in Emmitsburg, MD. Our kids lead stations of the

cross as we walked through the beautifully landscaped gardens, leading up to the Calvary Cross and the

Grotto. We celebrated Holy Mass at St. Mary’s chapel and Tijoachan reminded us of the importance of

Blessed Mother Mary in our lives and invited to consecrate ourselves to Blessed Mother. After lunch we

visited the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. All returned with such a wonderful feeling of peace

and joy! “ Give thanks to the LORD for he is good; his love endures forever!” Psalm 107:1
