My Dear Parishioners, In the fields outside of Bethlehem, the Angel of the Lord proclaimed to the shepherds who were on the night watch that the “Savior has been born for you who is Christ the Lord”, to find Him they would know, “and this will be a sign for you; you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” (Lk. 2:12). How privileged were the shepherds to discover this “good news of great joy”. It was granted to them because they kept the “night watch”, they were vigilant. Following the “night watch” of Advent, we, His disciples too, have heard the announcement of great joy. The sign for us would be something that would warm our hearts made cold by the darkness and lifeless reality of sin. The sign of an infant child, a newborn baby, is the manner in which God brings us the announcement of His love. God reaches us through His gentleness by appealing to our humanity, to our ability to love. This Christmas is a reminder that we have come not to celebrate a tradition, a holiday, or a season, but a memorial celebration that marks the day in which we met a child who is for us the Incarnate Love of God. It is a celebration that God has come to meet us, that God has remembered His people. It is a celebration of God’s immense mercy and compassion; He saw us lifeless and now brings us new life and joy. As you gather with your loved ones and family members to give thanks for the gift of our Savior, you join a vast multitude of Christians throughout the world joyfully celebrating this day. Remember that Christ is your Lord and it is because of Him that every twinkle of light inside and outside your home, every song of joy echoing in every church, home, or place of business, every gift given, every stocking stuffed, it is all because God loved the world so much that He gave us His only begotten Son that we might not perish but have eternal life (cf. Jn 3:16). May this Christmas be for all of you a time of renewal and recommitment of faith. May the warmth of this Holy Season inspire you in a desire to grow in faith, to pray with eagerness and to open your hearts to love one another especially those in most need. Christmas is always a celebration of faith and love. May you be instruments of peace, reconciliation, and joy to your families especially this Christmas. And may the newborn Savior keep you and bless you now and always. Merry Christmas, Fr. Maciej Stelmach Pastor

    CHRISTMAS

A young mother, her eyes shining with fa gue, who is arranging her hair; a father who finds himself along with his pre y wife and baby, straightening the stable to make himself useful in some way; shepherds who bring cheese and perhaps also some curdled milk; sheep who look at their shepherds while blea ng; a donkey who is eyeing his manger changed into a cradle; an adorable swaddled baby whom on calls Savior, Christ and Lord: This is the manifesta on of the goodness and the tenderness of God. This is the most fantas c birth in the history of humanity, the one who changed the face of the world! This is how far God humbled and compromised himself with us! This is Emmanuel! --From God’s Word Is Our Joy, Vol. 1 by Lucien Deiss, CSSp, copyright 1998, World Library Publications, page 73.

There are a number of additional requirements. Please contact the Parish Office for additional information.

    FUNERALS

Arrangements for a funeral are usually made through the Funeral Director at a funeral home of your choice.

    PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK

Hospitals do not inform churches when parishioners are patients. You should ask an immediate family member to contact the Parish Office to request a visit from a priest when sickness occurs or death is imminent. Please contact Barb Sanders to arrange for Communion to be brought to the sick at home, to a hospital, or nursing home.

I would like to have my house blessed.

Please contact me to make arrangements.

  • St. Andrew the Apostle We Care Food Pantry

The St. Andrew We Care Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 10:00 am. until 12:30 p.m. for any eligible family in Romeoville in need of food assistance. Our pantry is open only to Romeoville residents so proof of residency and an ID must be shown upon sign-in each week. If you are a parishioner of St. Andrew and you find yourself in need of food assistance, you are more than welcome to come to the We Care Food Pantry also. Proof of residency is a utility bill with your name and address on it plus your Driver’s License or State of Illinois ID. That must be brought in each time you come for food assistance.

The Pantry is located at 219 Arlington. For further information, please contact Shirley Grzenia at (630) 945-1317. This is the new phone number to call for food pantry inquiries and assistance. Thank you and God Bless.
