St. Ann Parish Mission Statement We are called by a loving God

to make St. Ann of Lansing a Catholic community of faith. We are a family of diverse people with various ministries: healing the body and spirit, teaching of God and His love,

united in sacraments and prayer, reaching out to the extended community. With God’s revelation of Himself in Scripture as our guide,

we strive to grow in His Spirit and to fulfill the promise of Christ’s Kingdom.

Today is our Parish Confirmation. Welcome to Bishop Rojas and all of our Confirmandi, sponsors, parents, family and friends. It does take a village to raise a child. This is also the Third Sunday of Easter. The Responsorial Psalm is, “Lord, let your face shine on us.” (Psalm 4:2 4,7-8,9) We pray that the Lord will let his face shine on us, one and all.

Here are a few cute ponderings by an unknown email author for you to think about and enjoy:

1. Why is the third hand on the watch called the second hand?

2. If a word were misspelled in the dictionary, how would we ever know?

3. If Webster wrote the first dictionary, where did he find the words?

4. Why do we say something is out of whack? What is whack?

5. Why do we sing, “Take me out to the ball game” when we are already there?

6. Why are “wise man” and “wise guy” oppo-sites?

7. If the entire world is a stage, where is the audi-ence sitting?

Take a minute and ponder these sayings and think up some of you own. God gave us minds to think, to play, to laugh, to cry and to pray: I hope you take the time to do it all. Congrats and many blessings to our Confirm-andi students and their families. This Class has had a lot of class, and they have outdone themselves with service projects and the respect they show for all. Go forth and share all the Good News you possess with the world, and make it a better place because you were here.

Serving Him Together,

Barb A.

Miss Me—But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me,

I want not rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little—but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love we once shared.

Miss me—but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone.

It’s all a part of the Master’s plan, A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart Go to the Friend we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.

Miss me—but let me go. In Loving Memory of

Our Faithful Departed

April 21-22, 2012

Dear Friends,

Please keep all the members of our Confirmation Class in your prayers as they begin their lives fully initiated into our Catholic Faith...."It takes a village to raise a child." It takes a whole parish to give Faith example to our young people today. We are up for the task.

As we celebrate "Earth Day," let us thank God for all of creation and find ways to recycle, reuse, and renew. Thank you to all of you who save your junk mail and old newspapers for our bins. Valuable landfill is saved each time we recycle!

There will be a meeting of the St. Ann School Fundrais-ing Committee on Tuesday, April 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. Everyone is welcome to attend.

This week, we celebrate Administrative Professionals Week, and thus we salute Janice Summerrise, Chris Hut-ter, Jeannette Funchion, Georgette Olson, and Pam Lyp-sczynski for their dedication and professionalism on be-half of our school and parish. I'm sure you appreciate their presence each time you call the parish office or the school.

Father Bill will celebrate our second annual "Blue Mass" on Friday, April 27, at 1:00 p.m. Our seventh grade stu-dents will help lead the prayers and sing in the choir. Everyone is welcome, as we honor our law enforcement personnel who serve and protect us.

Have a week full of God's blessings. Pray for our mili-tary men and women every day as well as all first re-sponders!

Sincerely,

Donna Lamoureux

How Can We Afford Catholic School? Are you thinking about sending your children to

St. Ann’s, but you’re concerned about the cost of a Catholic education? Did you know that you can directly

affect the amount that you pay for tuition by regularly shopping through a TRIP account? And you don’t

even have to wait until your children begin school. Open your account as a “Future Family,” and start

building savings that will offset your tuition payments when your children reach school age.

Likewise, if your kids have graduated and attend or plan to attend a Catholic high school, your TRIP credits

earned at St. Ann’s can be applied to your high school tuition payments.

TRIP is a service we provide at no cost to you, and you need do nothing other than purchase gift cards for the

businesses where you already shop anyway―groceries, gas, restaurants, retailers. Many families routinely save $1000 or more per year on their tuition through TRIP.

And some of our Religious Education students can even attend R.E. for FREE with their TRIP credits!

FMI or to enroll, Call Judy Rogala at 708-895-3852.

Look for our St. Ann Religious Education students in the Narthex selling delicious Doreen’s frozen pizzas after masses next weekend! You can choose from Cheese, Sau-sage, Pepperoni, Sausage/Jalapeno, Veggie & Supreme: only $8 each, and your dinner’s done!

St. Ann 6th grader Molly Roe did an ex-cellent job singing the National Anthem at the Chicago White Sox game on April 14, and many, many people of the St. Ann and Lan-sing communities turned out to cheer her on! The team also did its part by bringing home a White Sox win, and a great time was had by all!

Upcoming Events GOOD NEIGHBOR Day PARADE

St. Ann Parish will once again participate in the Village of Lansing’s annual Good Neighbor Day Parade!

Saturday May 5, 2012

The parade is the perfect opportunity to show the community that the family of St. Ann’s is a welcoming parish. We are hoping many of you will come out and show your parish pride! We need volunteers to walk with us. You can wear any St. Ann gear: walk as a team in uniform, wear gym clothes, Catholic Schools Week T-Shirts, any Green & Gold will do! Everyone participating in the parade will receive a hot dog when we reach Lan-Oak Park.

We will also need assistance decorating the float. We plan to decorate in the St. Ann parking lot on May 5 at 10:00 a.m.

Anyone interested in donating bags of individually wrapped candy for distribution at the parade may send their contributions into school or the parish office. If you send it through school, please mark it “GOOD NEIGH-BOR PARADE.” You can even drop off your candy while we decorate the float that morning in the parking lot.

The St. Ann float will be lined up on Wentworth Ave. Our line-up position is TBA―watch for details. All walkers should be there between 1:30 and 1:45 on parade day. We would love to have parents and children walking with us. If you are unable to walk with your child, you will have to meet us when we arrive at 178th St. across from the Eisenhower Center. If you have any questions, please call Paul Scheppe at 207-3347 or the parish office at 895-6700.

Dear Friends,

I would like to take a moment and thank everyone who helped make our Project Burial Cloths for Haiti such an outstanding success. Thank you to each of you who do-nated pillowcases and rosaries. Thank you to the ladies and Jim Pasyk for their artistic talents in decorating the pillow cases. And a special thank you to our mainte-nance crew for setting up the tables and chairs. I am very proud to say that we are sending 330 burial cloths, 360 rosaries, and various holy medals to the very needy in Haiti.
