From the Pastor- Fr. Stan July 2, 2017
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
We are already in summer and vacations are in progress. It's time of rest for all children and
youth, and I hope so, for all parents as well, even if they may have to go to work, but they don't have to
follow the school schedules, if they have school children. But even for those who work, on Long Island
it is easy to find active rest, using our water closeness, the beaches and other parks, to enjoy some
break, from ordinary time of the rest of the year. So in summer we are really favored, to find close
places to enjoy beautiful sunshine and different bodies of water, with different waves and temperatures and patterns. I like
Long Island for the beauty of its nature and the vastness of nature parks and possibilities for enjoyment, if one wants to find
something to enjoy, be it in nature or man made. We can take a train and easily go to the City for all kinds of fun.
When I was in Cutchogue on North Fork, when people said that they were going to the City, it meant that they
were going to Riverhead. Funny, no ??? But as for the farmland with farms and vineyards, wineries , beaches and bike riding
places, many people didn't want to go west towards more populated part of our beautiful Island. Let's find time to enjoy family
and friends, nature and other opportunities to rest and to praise God for the blessings of our lives. We can see God in all
things, if we open our minds and hearts, we can praise Him in all things that we do. Let's find time to nourish our souls by
participation in the Eucharist. Let's find time for God, and God will find us for a blessings, that we need.
I wish you all a great weekend of the 4th of July, with your family and friends. We are so blessed as a country, to be
the land of the free, because of the courage of the brave, who throughout two centuries, gave their everything for the service
of others. Independence is not free - it was paid by the brave, by the service men and women of all those years. We can not
forget that, we need to continue to cherish the benefits of democracy, living in peace and harmony with God and with others.
Our national INDEPENDENCE- can't be misunderstood for total doing what one wants. It is our Independence from
foreign governments, but through it we subject ourselves to the government of our own, that follows the Constitution and
other laws, that are decided by majority of population and all states together. So actually we make ourselves DEPEND-
ENT on the government, that we are called to choose every so often.
We are as well always DEPENDENT on God, even more so than on our government, because from govern-
ments we receive rules for living together with others here on earth, from God we received our lives and all that we are and will
be. Our DEPENDENCE on God is total, for every breath we take, for every day we live, for everything we need and
use. Only God can save us from our sins, only God can save us from death, and only God can give us eternal life. This is why
we are so desperately in need of God and god's sustaining us, in this life and in next.
This is the reason why those who know the Lord are happy and blessed, they find meaning and happiness in life and
even in death, knowing that as the psalmist says: For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord. For the reason of those
promises that Jesus makes, those strong statements in the Gospel of this Sunday, telling us: that we can love no one more
than God, not even our parents, not even our children, but that we have to take up the cross that life deals to us, and follow
Jesus humbly. It's all about humility of faith in face of life and it's challenges. It is about having faith and practicing it, because
the promises and rewards are great.
Happy 4th of July !!! Happy Independence Day !!!
President Trump will visit Poland on the 6th of July, as we are good allies of USA and we gave America a few heroes to
fight and win the Independence from Britain. If you remember from history: war heroes PULASKI and
KOSCIUSZKO, were Poles and they made considerable contributions to the Independence of USA. Now in Poland
we need USA support against Russian imperialism as they sponsor war and terror in neighboring Ukraine. God help us !!!
God bless America !!!!
God bless Poland !!!

leadership skills. We are so very proud of their achievements. If you are interested in this program in the fall, visit the Diocesan website www.drvc-faith.org

TODAY’S PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION This weekend our diocese will take up the Peter’s Pence Collection, which provides the Holy Father with the funds he needs to carry out his most important charitable works. The proceeds benefit the most disadvantaged: victims of war, oppression, and natural disasters. Through your generosity, we can cast the peace of Christ upon the world.
comprendre a demi-mot.
