St Bernard’s – Kojonup NEWSLETTER WEEK 9
13th December 2019
PRINCIPAL’S NEWS
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is with some sadness that I write my piece for the final Newsletter of the 2019 school year. It has been a busy year and I thank you all for your support of your children and our school this year.
As we farewell our Year Six graduating students, and our leaving staff and families, I would like to acknowledge the contribution they all have made to our school and wish them well on the next stage of their journeys.
I would like to acknowledge the hard work of all our staff this year and particularly this term, with reports, graduation, concert, end of year handover and so on and on! It is an extremely demanding role and I thank them all for going over and above in everything that they do.
Thank you, also, to our P&F and School Board members, for all that they do to make our school a better place for all our students.
My grateful thanks to Fr Gerome who celebrated a lovely Graduation Mass with our Year Six students and their families on Tuesday, and then returned to school yesterday to celebrate our Whole School End of Year Mass. His presence in our school is greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing him around the school in 2020.
There has been lots going on at the school in the past few weeks – St Bernard’s is an exciting place to be! Make sure you check it all out in the rest of this newsletter and on our website.
Finally, blessings to you all as you begin holidays. I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Travel safely if you are on the roads and I look forward to seeing you back in 2020.
God Bless,
Sharon Marino

Book Fair this term raised more than $3000,
meaning we have more money to spend on
library books and resources! Many thanks
for your generosity in supporting the Book
Fair, and to Mrs Gardner for organising it
all – with wonderful helpers such as Mrs
Marinoni and Mrs Davies.
We look forward to Library lessons next year
when Mrs Gardner will work with teachers to
promote the Accelerated Reader program.
Congratulations to Codi Trethown, Lexi and Sophie Greenup, Amelia and Moana Te Aotonga, Kate McGuire, Riyana Diallo, Charli Guidi and Tom Clayton who enjoyed a lovely hamburger and milkshake lunch in the staff room as a reward for achieving 400% over the year in the Accelerated Reader program.

Year 3/4 Teacher for a Day - Horse & Cart Visit
Reagan Goodall was the last member of the Year 3/4 class to be the teacher and she taught a lesson on how to ride a horse and cart. Envy was the beautiful Clydesdale horse who came along to help Reagan out teaching her lesson. Well done to all Year 3/4 students who did a great job presenting their lessons over the past two weeks.

COMMUNITY NEWS Christmas Tree Display -
The Combined Churches of Kojonup are privileged to be hosting a magnificent display of Christmas trees with hand-made decorations created by the members of the St Stephen’s Lutheran Ladies Guild Katanning. In the past, this display has adorned a shop in Katanning, but with the kind donation from Peter Rogers of a
shop space opposite the IGA and next to the Kojonup Shoe and Sports shop, we are being treated to the display throughout the month of December.
The shop will be open:
2nd - 13th December - Weekdays: 12.30pm -4.30pm Saturday 7th and 14th December: 9.30am - 12.00 noon
16th -23rd December: 9.30am - 4.30pm. (excluding Sunday) Look for the OPEN sign.
Please take a moment out of your busy schedule to come with your children to see this display.
