Order tickets in advance (order form in this newsletter) or pay at the door. See you there! eLearning Information Work Window Opens Wed., March 18th at 3:00 pm At this time, we will be holding an eLearning makeup day on Saturday, March 21st. The purpose is twofold: First, it will make up for the school closing on Tuesday, March 3rd. Second, and more importantly, we would like to use this March 21st date to orient everyone teachers, parents, and students with the eLearning experience. We will not only be making up a day, but we will be working through the process so that we can begin to use the eLearning option for future closings. This is our trial run. The window for students to begin working on assignments will open on Wednesday, March 18th, at 3:00 p.m. and all assignments will be due on Wednesday, March 25th at 8:00 a.m. This window of five instructional days (counting Saturday) will provide students ample time to complete the material and allow teachers time to provide student and parent support and monitor and collect the assignments as they are completed. Please understand, as March 21st will count as an official day of school, if a student does not complete the work assigned in the time period provided, barring extenuating circumstances, the student will be marked as an unexcused absence and all assignments will be counted as late and/or missing work. eLearning Assignment Links Accessed Through the School Website Each grade level will have its own eLearning page. Girls on the Run is dedicated to inspiring girls to by joyful, healthy and confident. Using a fun, experience­based curriculum which                                           creatively integrates running, the program combines training for a 5k event with interactive lessons that encourage positive emotional,                                   social, mental and physical development. This spring, the Girls on the Run organization will serve its 1 millionth girl!    St. Charles Programming Site Information: The St. Charles site is open to girls in 3rd ­ 5th grade and will last 10 weeks culminating with the girls completing the Girls on the Run                                                       5K on May 30th. The program will be held every Monday and Wednesday from 3:00 – 4:30 pm beginning March 16th. Please visit our                                               website girlsontherunofallencounty.org for more information, and to register your daughter – Registration is open through March 15th                                 

and is limited to 25 girls, so sign up early to guarantee your spot! Program fee ranges from $25­$110/participant and is based on a                                               sliding scale according to household income.  News notes from your School Nurse It only takes a few moments. You think it will be okay to leave the paint can out, or the bleach bottle, or the lighter….. March 15­21 is Poison Prevention Awareness Week. Here is some information from our Indiana Poison Center:  1­800­222­1222 ­­Replace child­resistant caps tightly every time you give or take medicine or use a product. ­­LOCK medicines (including vitamins, supplements, herbal products)and household products away from children and pets—products placed up high may not be secure since children climb. ­­Return medicine and household products to a locked storage place immediately after use. ­­Always read the label before giving or taking a medicine or using household products—never guess about how to use a product. ­­Take medicines where children can’t watch—they learn by imitating. ­­Program all phones with Indiana Poison Center, 1­800­222­1222. ­­Make sure babysitters and family members caring for you children also have the emergency number posted in their homes and phones. Why are these suggestions given?  In 2014 the IPC received  57,396 requests for assistance (averaging 157 calls per day). The goal is to keep children and others safe from poisons. Poisons can include: any medicines, cleaning products (drain openers, toilet bowl cleaners, oven cleaners, rust removers, etc.), automotive products (windshield washer fluid, antifreeze, etc.), hydrocarbons (gasoline, kerosene, lighter fluid, furniture polish, hair and body oils, etc,)  pesticides, herbicides, insect repellents. Indiana Poison Center is  open 24 hours a day 365 days per year.  It is a resource for the general public as well as health care professionals. It is certified by the American Association of Poison Control Centers. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will easily direct you to the proper care should a poison event occur.  Free magnet, phone sticker, or wallet card will be sent to you if you call the above number or visit the website @ www.indianapoison.org.   SCRIP NEWS

If there is a 2­hour delay on Fridays, SCRIP sales take                                               

place from 10­11 am in the Hession Center. If there is a 2­hour delay on Mondays, school orders are still collected and filled. If school                                                 is cancelled, SCRIP sales are cancelled. Special Orders for Spring Break­ If you are planning to order any special order items for spring break, we recommend doing so by                                               Monday, March 16. If you wait until Monday, March 23, we will do our best, but cannot guarantee delivery of the items by Thursday,                                               March 26. We have experienced weather and truck breakdowns in the past, which delayed inventory arriving when we expected it.                                       So, don't wait! Kroger ­ We have received confirmation from Kroger that we will no longer be able to purchase gift cards for our SCRIP program. The                                               only way that Kroger will contribute to our SCRIP program in the future is with the Community Rewards based on the purchases made                                             by everyone who has linked their Kroger Plus Card to the St. Charles account. If you have not yet linked your Kroger Plus Card to St.                                                   Charles, please consider doing it soon.  See the SCRIP coordinators if you have questions about this process.

HAIRY  TALE  ROCK St. Charles School presents Hairy Tale Rock on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 7:00pm in the Hession Center gym. The doors will open for                                               seating at 6:30 pm. Seating is on the bleachers, though there are a limited number of chairs available for those who are unable to                                               climb the bleachers or who need a chair back. The cast and crew of this spring play are comprised of students from grades 5­8.                                               Though admission will be taken at the door, you are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance through the school office. Please use                                           the form below to place your request for tickets. Adult tickets are $4.00 and student tickets are $2.00 (preschoolers are free).

LUNCH ACCOUNTING FORM Parents can put money into the student's account through your MealpayPlus online account at www.mealpayplus.com or by calling 866­662­3382 for a small fee. Or, you may send a check with the Lunch Accounting Form below to the school cafeteria. For example, if you have 3 children, send a check for $90 payable to St. Charles Cafeteria and designate $30 to each child's account. Each child who will eat hot lunch needs to have money in their meal account. It is recommended to have a minimum of $11.25 in this account which will pay for five meals. If the student may want additional portions of the main entree, then it is recommended to have a minimum of $6.25 in the general account as well. if you have questions regarding this, you may call the school cafeteria at 969­4028 on school days 8:00­12:30 or the school office at 484­3392.
