48 Happy Years!!! Wednesday of this week is Fr. Mark’s 48th anniversary of his ordination. He is very grateful to God and to the parishioners of his various parishes for many happy years of ministry!
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION When unable to attend Mass
+ In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. OUR FATHER
Collect Let the power of the Holy Spirit come upon me, O
Lord, I beseech thee: that he may both mercifully
cleanse my heart and defend me from all adversities.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Epistle (Revelation 3:20) Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man
hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to
him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
The Gospel (St. John 15:5) I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in
me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. Take a moment to think of the failures of the past week: recall any sins you have committed since your last Communion and offer them to Christ.
Act of Contrition O God, I am very sorry that I have sinned against thee
who art so good. Forgive me for Jesus’ sake, and I will
try to sin no more.
Act of Reception In union, dear Lord, with the faithful at every altar of
thy church where thy blessed Body and Blood are
being offered to the Father, I desire to offer thee praise and thanksgiving. I believe that thou art truly present
in the Holy Sacrament. And since I cannot now receive
thee sacramentally, I beseech thee to come spiritually
into my heart. I unite myself unto thee, and embrace
thee with all the affections of my soul. Let me never be
separated from thee. Let me live and die in thy love. Amen.
Come Lord Jesus, dwell in thy servant in the fullness
of thy strength, in the perfection of thy ways, and in
the holiness of thy spirit, and rule over every hostile
power in the might of thy Spirit, and to the glory of thy Father. Amen.
May the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ
preserve my body and soul unto everlasting life.
Amen.
Act of Praise and Thanksgiving + Blessed, praised, and adored be Jesus Christ on his
throne of glory in Heaven, and in the most Holy
Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.
Anima Christi Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me;
Blood of Christ, inebriate me; Water from the side of Christ, wash me;
Passion of Christ, strengthen me;
O Good Jesus, hear me; Within Thy wounds hide me;
Suffer me not to be separated from thee; From the
malicious enemy defend me; In the hour of my death
call me, and bid me come to Thee. That with all thy
Saints I may praise thee Forever and ever. Amen. +In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
NEW PAROCHIAL VICAR
The Personnel Board had initially asked Fr. Josh
Gray to become our new parochial vicar, but he
is now needed elsewhere, so the board & Bishop
Sis are sending us Fr. Joe Barbieri, a priest new
to our diocese. He is at a point in his life when he
would like to do parish ministry. Here is
information about him:
Fr. Joe Barbieri, C.P. Fr. Joe is the eldest of two children, born in Toronto,
Canada of Italian parents. Originally ordained a priest
for the Archdiocese of Toronto, after a brief stint as an
associate pastor, he was sent to Rome for further
studies. He served in the diplomatic service of the Holy
See for a period of about ten years in Angola,
Colombia, Senegal, Bulgaria, Poland and finally in the
Vatican. Feeling deeply drawn by the Crucified Christ
to serve Him as a Passionist, Fr. Joe joined the
Congregation while in Italy and professed first vows in
2006. In 2010 he was invited by the Archdiocese of
Galveston-Houston to serve at St. Mary’s Seminary as
Director of Spiritual Formation. As his contract with
the Archdiocese was coming to term, Fr. Barbieri was
invited by Holy Cross Province to succeed Fr. Joe
Moons as Retreat Director of Holy Name Retreat
Center. Fr. Barbieri served as Retreat Director from
July 1, 2014 to July 1, 2018, and now serves as the
Director of Ministry.
We expect him around July 1.

An intimate portrait of the man, the pope and his message, this series of documentaries reveals the epic proportions of the life and work of Pope John Paul. By special arrangements with the Vatican, this timeless footage over the span of five hours,
was produced by renown Italian journalist, Alberto Michelini. Delving deep into the papacy of
Pope John Paul II, embark on soul-stirring journey into the heart of his messages and world travels—and even into his private life within the Vatican. Encounter the face of Christ through one of his most powerful messengers, Blessed
Pope John Paul II, a leader not only for the
Catholic Church but also humanity.
“PUSHED” OUT ON MISSION There is a delightful character in the original Dr. Dolittle Tales called the “Pushmi-Pullyu.” It is a beast with two identical halves, with a head at each end. No matter which direction the beast walks, one end is the “push me” and the other is the “pull you.” Today’s feast is a bit like that in the life of the church. In the book of the Acts of the Apostles, it is the ascension of Christ that calls for the Holy Spirit,
which consequently sends or “pushes” the church out on its mission. This is the message that we hear from the angels today as they tell the friends of Jesus not to look up into the clouds, but to get busy. It is the message of Jesus himself in Matthew’s Gospel, as he sends them out to baptize. He also tells them, “I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). And it is this message, confident in faith that Jesus has ascended to shouts of joy, that “pulls” us along to our final destiny. The life of the faithful disciple, sent into the world on mission, will one day know the same risen, ascended glory. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

BUT will not be something we rush into. We miss each of you! As things continue to OPEN
UP; we may be able to MEET in smaller groups, in a limited activity capacity where we can
PRACTICE social distancing while still being able to meet and build community. So please
continue to pray!
