FROM THE DESK OF FATHER FALLON Hi Everyone! HEY! Let's talk about STEWARDSHIP! I hate the word stewardship. People use it all the time, but I don't think we really know what it means. We throw the words "time, talent, and treasure" around like they're "Amen's" at Mass. Some people think stewardship is just a cute way of asking for more money. Others think stewardship is a Catholic guilt word to get people to volunteer at Church. Stewardship is an offering: not an obligation, not something mandatory, but an offering of who I am and what is dear to me? To whom is stewardship directed? The parish? Fr. Fallon's Hot Tub Fund? No, stewardship is directed wholeheartedly and entirely to the Lord. Here's how I think this applies at St. E's: It means our love of Jesus compels us to gather around Him every Sunday. It means we as the Body of Christ want to share that love with everyone. It means eve-rything we do here gives praise and glory to the Lord. YES, sometimes that includes a financial re-sponse. YES, sometimes that means we offer ourselves--the talents we've been given--as a way to build up the Body of Christ, this Church community. Stewardship isn't easy, but neither is following Jesus. Next weekend we're going to have some different things for you to consider helping or leading. But this week I want you to pray about what our parish needs to do to help those in Crestwood and sur-rounding areas to learn more about Jesus and feel His presence in their lives. Stewardship isn't just about us, it's about all those around us. Pray about stewardship this week. I love you! Fr. Fallon
