Saturday, September 14th 35th Annual Papal Site Mass
The Knights of Columbus of Moncton sends out an invitation to all for the Annual Papal Site Mass. Come and help us celebrate the 35th anniversary of Saint Pope John Paul II’s visit to Moncton. There will be a bilingual recital of the Rosary at the Prayer Garden at 10:00 a.m.
followed by a procession to the Papal Site for the 11:00 a.m. celebration of the Mass. Following the Mass, there will be a family BBQ at the Prayer Garden.
This celebration will be on Saturday, September 14th.
(If it rains, the celebration will be at the Notre Dame de Grace Church, 854 Mountain Rd).
TAKE NOTE!
Catechism
Year 1 formal catechism in our St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish Grouping begins for all children who will be six years old before December 31st of this year. We use a “Parent Coaching Model” where parents/guardians and child come to catechism and sit at a table together. A Coaching Catechist leads the parents through each session so that the parent is, in fact, the Catechist for the child!
A central principle of the Parent Coaching Model is that we cannot succeed in faith formation with children unless their parents and guardians are also deeply engaged with the process, so you will find: Catechism sessions are 75-90 minutes in length and take place once every two weeks.
You will accompany your child to each session where you will journey alongside them, as together you grow in
faith. (We understand that families lead busy lives. If you are unable to attend with your child, they may be
accompanied by another adult, such as a grandparent, an aunt or uncle, or a close family friend.)
Children will be separated into two groupings: one grouping for Years 1, 2 and 3 and another grouping for
Years 4, 5 and 6. If you have more than one child registered in the same grouping, (for example a child in Year
1 and another in Year 3) you can all attend the same session together!
We have had great success with this program and know that it is opening doors for parents to be able to talk more comfortably about their faith and beliefs with their child. Many parents have commented on how this catechism program is renewing and deepening their own faith as they journey with their child. Awesome! Save the Date! Catechism Registration will take place in early September. Letters will be mailed out in mid-August for all children expected to register for Year 1. More details will follow!
Holy Family Church
Once again, Holy Family will be collecting School Supplies to help the less fortunate and we invite anyone who would like to donate, to do so! A box will be placed at the back of Holy Family church in late July and supplies will be delivered to the schools in early September, just in time for the start of the new school year!
Some items to keep in mind as you’re collecting to donate, would be:pencils (HB and 2H), pencil sharpeners, pencil cases, erasers (pen and pencil), glue (sticks preferred), coloured pencils and markers, crayons, scribblers, loose leaf (lined and plain), binders, rulers, calculators, Kleenex (any brand), duo-tang folders, dry markers, USB sticks for computers (look for sales!), and there are some optional items, too: computer paper, construction paper, lunch bags and book bags.
All types of school supplies are welcome! Thank you everyone!
We are very excited about an upcoming fundraiser and you will be too! It’s all happening at Holy Family on August 23rd so mark your calendars!
Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. Just imagine the kitchen party of all kitchen parties! Ivan and Vivian Hicks, Alcide and Vie Goguen (Alcide was one of the original ‘Bunkhouse Boys’) and musicians extraordinaire, Laurie and Fernande Belliveau! All will be performing (and maybe members of the audience too!) while volunteers are serving a wonderful church supper, complete with coffee/tea and dessert!
Tickets for this first-class event are only $12 and you must buy your ticket in advance, so don’t delay! Tickets are being sold before and after Mass at Holy Family and there will also be some for sale at the
parish office. Deadline to buy your ticket is Saturday, August 16th.
Mark your calendars for Friday, October 25th for a fabulous Holy Family evening! You know that this will be a chance for friends to come together, have a wonderful time
and help our incredible church! Yes! You don’t want to miss it, so circle that date!! Auction!
St. Jude’s Church
Can you help? Will you help? - JMA Armstrong/Salisbury Middle School needs this community to step forward in their search for a host family in the fall of 2019 for a Grade 10 German girl. This would be a full year placement. She would like to attend church weekly and is Catholic. She is a dancer, swimmer and baker. I am sure we have a home in our midst for her! If you have questions, or would like to learn more about her, please contact Malcolm Stewart at [email protected] or by calling 372-9275. Thank you.
