Dear Friends of Saint Elizabeth’s:

Saint Elizabeth Orthodox Church of Woodstock, Georgia, is pleased to announce the “Buy a Brick, Burn a Mortgage” campaign.

In 2010, we purchased our church building, parish house, and eight acres of land. In the years that followed, we were able to transform an existing office building into a church complex with a beautiful sanctuary and ample meeting rooms. Yet much remains to be done, including further renovations to the parish home for Father and his family. The mortgage, which allowed us to complete these transformations, has a large balloon payment that is due in just a few years.

We are asking for your help to enable us to “burst the balloon.” Many of you come from long-established parishes where your mortgages were satisfied years ago. As a growing mission parish, we need your help in order to continue growing and serving the Orthodox faith. In order to accomplish this, we have established the “Buy a Brick, Burst the Balloon” campaign.

Each 4 x 8 brick has space for three engraved lines containing up to 14 characters per line. A small donation of $100 will cover the cost of the brick; the balance will help pay down the mortgage. Each brick will be permanently placed in our garden-like memory area in the shadow of the three-bar Cross in front of the church.

Dedicating a brick and helping the Saint Elizabeth parish family burn its mortgage is the perfect way to give thanks to God and to honor loved ones on birthdays, weddings, baptisms, anniversaries, graduations, and so many other occasions worthy of recognition. . Dedicating a brick is also a beautiful way to commemorate a departed loved one. You can help us pay off this balloon while honoring a loved one and creating a permanent memorial. Each year, we will hold a Panachida/Trisagion at the foot of the Cross in the memorial garden. We will pray for the souls of your departed loved ones memorialized on the bricks that you dedicated. Your loved ones will also be remembered in prayer during every All Souls Saturday service during the Lenten season.

Each donor will receive an invitation to the mortgage burning celebration when our mortgage has been paid off.
