Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time February 8, 2015

[The LORD] tells the number of the stars and calls them by name.

— Psalm 147:4

Dear fellow parishioners,

It has been 2 months since I have taken over the leadership of our Parish and I am happy to be a part of St Felicitas Church. I want to emphasize that the parish is like a family and, like all families, there is a lot going on. We have a responsibility to maintain our Church and our School. Over 60 years ago the parishioners of St. Felicitas built this Church. We all pulled together and we did a great job. We have a wonderful Church and School. However, years have passed and we need to repair and repaint and add a few things. The interior of the Church needs painting. The children in our school need some protection from the sun in their lunch area. I would like to hear from you – your comments and suggestions are most welcome. God has blessed St. Felicitas in so many ways. Individually, collectively as a Church. Many years ago we had many priests to serve our parishioners. Today, this is not the case. As members of St. Felicitas God is calling us to help. I strongly believe vocation comes from the family. If the family prays together there is peace and happiness. We are so busy today but Jesus was busy too. The gospel shows that although Jesus was busy he arose early in the morning to spend time in prayer. This is a good example for all of us. It is important to pause and pray. Jesus took time to be united with God, His father. We need to re-energize and refuel in order to continue with our journey

As we are talking about family praying together here is a beautiful prayer from our Holy Father. I hope that you will pray this prayer with your family. If family is strong society will be strong.

Synod Prayer to the Holy family by Pope Francis Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in you we contemplate the splendor of true love, to you we turn with trust. Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic Churches. Holy Family of Nazareth, may families never again experience violence, rejection and division: may all who have been hurt or scandalized find ready comfort and healing. Holy family of Nazareth, may the approaching Synod of Bishops make us once more mindful of the sacredness and inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God’s plan.

Please be assured of my prayers and remember me in yours. Pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and to the religious life. Thank God for the Sisters we have.

Father Tom

Amen. - Sr Mai An Linh, OP. Chương Trình Mừng Xuân Ất Mùi 2015 Cộng Đoàn Nữ Vương Hoà Bình sẽ có Thánh Lễ Mừng Xuân Ất Mùi và tiệc mừng vào Chúa Nhật ngày 15 tháng 2 năm 2015 tại Hội Trường Nhà Xứ lúc 1:30 pm.

Thánh Lễ Chữa Lành – Healing Mass Giáo xứ St. Felicitas sẽ có Thánh Lễ chữa lành (Holy Healing Mass) vào ngày 11 tháng 2 năm 2015 lúc 7pm, nhằm ngày Lễ Đức Mẹ Lộ Đức.

The Bishop has asked us to help him respond to questions sent to him by Pope Francis and the synod Fathers in preparation for the Synod on Marriage and the Family that will take place this October. He especially asks that all levels of the Church’s life respond to these questions. Therefore, he has put a questionnaire on line in both English and Spanish that he asks all of you to fill out on line in the next two weeks. This is an important contribution we can make to the prayerful reflection of the whole Church on this important part of our life.

Thank you from the Saint Luke Institute—I hope that in your generosity, you share the joy we feel when our clients, priests and religious who have given their entire lives to the Lord and the Church, thank us for our healing care. In helping priests and religious in need of spiritual, psychological and physical restoration, I believe we not only serve them well, but in doing so, we serve the Lord and the Church.

—Benjamin Franklin
