Narthex Update

The electrical work is done, and the drywall will go up this coming week. After that the tongue in groove ceiling will be installed, then the lighting fixtures, and after that, the floor. There will be details to be tended to all along and well try to keep you up to date.

Your Committee, headed by Junior Warden Ron Johnson, and including Jud Williams, Jo Grigg, JD Polley, and Mother Martha, has been meeting regularly to keep on top of the work.

This week they went to Oakbrook Esser Studios in Oconomowoc to see the work being done on the Stained Glass Window. WOW! Paul Phelps gave us the tour, and glass cutter Peter showed us the panels that have been cut. He placed some on a lightbox, and it was just beautiful.Two photos are on the next page:

Please join with your brothers and sisters at St. Francis for a discussion on NEXT SUNDAY, May 31st. We will meet for coffee and donuts in the undercroft right after the morning worship service.

Your Diocesan Church Development Institute (DCDI) team will present information on the history of this topic in The Episcopal Church, the development of the liturgy, our bishops direction on how this may be implemented, and the importance of recognizing that there are those among us of a wide variety of thought on this topic.

There will be ONE ground rule: We will engage in holy listening by respecting and listening to one another as we explore this topic together.

Peter, the glass cutter, show a piece of the glass being used for our window. Almost all of the glass comes from Germany, and has beautiful handblown features. You can see the speckles in the piece of blue, above. Some have subtle waves, others striations of various colors.

The sun, displayed on a light box. From a distance it is quite spectacular. After the cutting is complete, lead pieces will be inserted between each piece of glass, causing the design to stand out even more.
