Door-to-Door

As part of Blue Jean Sunday, please help leaflet the blocks surrounding the church with copies of the invitation to our October 4th Celebration. If you can walk a block or two, once the narthex is spic ’n span, we’ll go out in twos or threes, door to door, to extend our welcome. This will not take long.

Neighbors consider themselves attached to local churches, whether they are members or not. They drive by everyday and notice changes.

For instance, the changing sign on the street corner catches attention, and gives a laugh or a chance to think.

We want to share the new narthex and window with those with whom we live.

Please take a half hour and…

pitch in.

A busload of parishioners (thank you Sue Hafert for organizing the transportation!) made their way to Nashotah House last Sunday. There they enjoyed worshiping with the Nashotah House Community at Evensong (sung Evening Prayer), with hymns and three recital pieces on our/their organ.

The Very Rev. Steven Peay thanked St. Francis profusely for the generous and free gift which will unhand the life of the seminary in many ways. The organ will be used for worship services, recitals, and teaching church musicians. Nashotah House has had professionals tune, wire, and tinker with the organ to perfect it.

The choir scholars voices were beautiful and the organ was enhanced by a group of brass musicians from the Brookfield Civic Band.

Afterward, everyone was treated to delicious pulled pork at the pot luck.

This event honored St. Francis for their gift while celebrating a new beginning for Nashotah House. Those who attended returned home with full hearts and the satisfaction that the Vestry made a good decision when they unanimously voted to donate the organ.

Thanks be to God!

Here is a link to a recording of one of the hymns sung at Evensong. Thank you, Mia…
