St Georges Park, Ditchling.

A community. A lifestyle. Peace of mind

A sense of community is perhaps the most important element of St Georges Park Retirement Village in Ditchling, East Sussex.

Residents know their neighbours, have lifelong friends and most importantly live moments away from one another. This style of community living has been invaluable to many residents and their families since the global pandemic.

Village residents have been enjoying the security of their own apartments alongside their neighbours and friends. Socially distanced walks around the beautiful grounds and more recently the re-introduction of socially distanced outside activities including the ever popular Tennis and Bowles.

Many residents have been receiving hot meals from the onsite restaurant to their apartment doors. A highlight being the new weekly meal planners and Friday fish and chip suppers.

The onsite shop has also been offering a grocery delivery service which has proved invaluable to many. These changes can provide peace of mind to families and residents alike during a pandemic.

Residents John and Judith commented ‘we are so glad we are here at St Georges Park and know we have done the right thing buying our apartment. We cannot thank you all enough for caring for us all – everyone is so kind and cheerful’.

The sense of community has been stronger than ever with residents joining the ‘clap for carers’ on Thursday evenings. More recently, socially distanced VE day celebrations at Purchase Manor. The residents enjoyed a wonderful day, including a Spitfire flying straight over the top of St George's Park, on the way to Dame Vera Lynn’s house in Ditchling. Resident Renata comments how ‘magnificent’ the VE afternoon tea was ‘a lot of work went into it’ Renata went on to say it was ‘well above the call of duty’.

When it comes to retirement living the most valued offering is peace of mind for both residents and their families.

CEO Philip Smith says ‘St Georges Park pride themselves on their sense of community. Community is at the heart of retirement living and this community is stronger than ever’
