St. Gregory Community Prayer Time

Since we are unable to gather together, community prayer time is everyone praying in your own homes, at the same time, and praying in your own language.

During the month of May, let us join together in praying the Most Holy Rosary to our Blessed Mother. Please join our English Legion of Mary praying the rosary on Wednesday mornings at 10 am and our Legion de Maria, Spanish Legion on Thursday evenings at 6 pm.

Happy Birthday to all our Parishioners who celebrated a Birthday in the month of May. May our good Lord continue to send His blessings to you.

Feast of the Ascension. Matthew 28:16-20. Please keep our community in your prayers.

A prayer to share with your children: Lord Jesus, help us to remember that you are with us always, and we need never be afraid. Help us to go out and do your work in this world until we see you again, when you come back to us at the end of time. Amen.

FIESTA MEDALS $10.00 Our Teen ACTS Team members are selling Fiesta Medals to help fund their weekend retreat in June. We are asking our parish community for support even though Fiesta will be held in November this year. Our teens rely on this fundraiser to help defray costs for their retreat and help with scholarship funds. Purchase your Teen ACTS fiesta medal early; it was designed by our Teen ACTS Team Director. Please support their cause. Call the Religious Education/Youth Ministry office for information to purchase our medals.

UPCOMING TEEN ACTS RETREAT Attention parents of Teens completing 9th grade to graduating seniors. Our annual summer Teen ACTS Retreat will take place this June, date still to be announced. ACTS Retreats are usually Thursday through Sunday retreats, but it will be modified this year to meet safety measures for teens and adults present. The price is usually $150 to attend but, this summer it will only be $25. With the lockdown we are experiencing, teens need to be spiritually fed now more than ever. All have handled this stay at home appeal differently and a retreat will certainly unite them in spirit. For more information or concerns please call Gloria Silva at 210-342-3826.

Henry David Thoreau once wrote, “If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.”

Establishing goals for ourselves can nurture our faith by energizing us. We need to be sure that the goals we set for ourselves are in line with God’s will for humanity.

We are going through difficult times; we need to look outside the box. Pursuing goals can enhance self-discipline, build character and, now and then, lead us to new dreams that we might never have even imagined, it can help us to become better people. The saints are great aids for us. One of the most incredible things about the saints is that no matter their circumstances, the saints never lost faith in God. They are a wonderful example to all believers.

For all of life’s happenings, especially in this time of need, we need guidance. The best source of that guidance is God. The saints can help but most especially, MARY. Who else can be our guide to give us strength to endure and cope?

Holy Mary, obtain for me the help that I need, to do my very best using all the powers within me and all the talents and skills I possess, according to my possibilities, to fulfill God´s plan in every circumstance of my life. Amen.

Help youngsters FEEL peaceful Experts report that more than one in eight children suffer from anxiety. During this time of uncertainty, even more children are experiencing heightened worry. As parents, we suffer when our children suffer. Instead, help youngsters to FEEL their way toward peace. Freeze: When children express worries or show signs of stress, pause and take slow, deep breaths together. Deep breathing can help reverse the body’s response to anxiety. During the time it takes for you to pray an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be together, your child should be visibly calmer. Empathize: Even adults are anxious right now. Reassure children that worry is indeed a reasonable response to our current situation. Evaluate: Look at the facts. A worrier tends to project into the future to imagine, “what if?” Research show that focusing on the present can help. Lead your worrier through a look at “what is.” Let Go: Turn concerns over to God. When so much is out of our control, it’s best to let God take over. Children often benefit from concrete action, so encourage youngsters to write down their specific concerns. Then place their “worries” under a sacred statue or image you may have in your home. Pray together to ask Our Lord take over from there and have the confidence that it will be done. Lord , Hold these loved ones in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us.
